After learning that his wife, Steph, was pregnant, Max Hoyland made a list of the things he wanted to do before the birth, including bungee jumping and getting a tattoo. He was cajoled into getting the tattoo by his friends Joe Mangel and Karl Kennedy and decided to get a ‘Stef’ tattoo (hoping that less letters would mean less pain) when tattooist Spider arrived at the Scarlet Bar. Meanwhile, Alex Kinski also decided that he should get a tattoo, as his fiancée Susan and kids, Rachel and Zeke, had started joking about how he never took any risks. Although Alex ended up going through with it, as soon as Max saw the needle, he fainted.
