When Piper Willis was wrongly blamed for robbing in another student, Bec Simmons, who'd been making fake IDs, she found herself being targeted by Freya Stone and her friends. Freya and her friends needed fake IDs and warned Piper that they'd make her life hell if she didn't find a way to get them. As Piper and her friends, Ben and Xanthe, tried to work out what to do, newcomer Willow offered to help, showing them an ID she'd made for herself which said that she was 18. Though Piper was reluctant to involve anyone else, Xanthe convinced her that it was the only solution to the problem.

Later in the year, rumours started going around that recent arrival Yashvi Rebecchi had slept with Ben. Though it was all a misunderstanding, Yashvi didn't deny it when Freya approached her and started asking questions, seemingly impressed with the whole thing. Happy to have finally won the attention of one of the school's popular girls, Yashvi kept the lie going but Freya and her friends were starting to doubt it was true, with nothing but anecdotal evidence. When Yashvi and Ben were hanging out at her house one day, he and Kirsha, Yashvi's younger sister, went outside to play their guitars, while Yashvi snuck a look through Ben's laptop. When Freya then turned up, warning Yashvi that she was going to tell the whole school about her lies, Yashvi showed her a naked photo of Ben that she'd found on the computer, quickly claiming that he'd send it to her.

When rumours then started going around the school about Ben's naked photos, he was very upset, explaining to Yashvi how his ex-girlfriend Emma had posted those photos online when he broke up with her. Feeling terrible about everything she'd done, Yashvi prepared to be honest with him, but decided to wait when Freya invited her and Ben to her private party after the school formal. When the formal took place the following week, Yashvi still hadn't been honest with Ben and was worried about how Ben's ex, Xanthe, was going to feel if she found out about the lies. When Yashvi asked Freya not to talk about her and Ben in front of Xanthe, she promised to keep quiet but, as they all gathered at the Rebecchi house for a pre-formal party, Freya couldn't resist some stirring. She told Xanthe about the naked photo of Ben, that she'd seen it and that Yashvi had claimed that Ben sent it to her as they'd been secretly hooking up. Xanthe then confronted Yashvi, who admitted what she'd done and why she'd been doing it, saying that she would speak to Freya the following day and tell her that she and Ben had split up. Xanthe seemed to accept his but as they all prepared to leave for the formal, Xanthe blurted out the truth to Ben. Believing that she was jealous of his friendship with Yashvi, he refused to believe her, until a guilty Yashvi finally confesses everything.

The following year, a birthday lunch was being held at the Flametree Retreat for Xanthe, after her dad, Gary, and gran, Sheila, managed to mess up the bookings and order too much food. When Freya and her mates then turned up, having been invited by Sheila to add to the paying guests, Xanthe was immediately annoyed when Freya started trying to hand out her sister's ADHD medication. As Freya complained about the healthy food and made digs about Yashvi about fake boyfriends, she decided to spike Xanthe and Piper's drinks with the medication, leading to them behaving very strangely. When Xanthe overheard Freya laughing about how she'd given them a double dose of the meds, she told her gran to call the police and a fight broke out, just as retreat owner Steph Scully walked in, horrified by the chaos.
