Harriet Wallace 2022
Siblings: Prudence
Occupation: Magazine Journalist

The equally flighty sister of Prudence ‘Prue’ Wallace, Harriet Wallace was delighted when her niece, the late Prue’s daughter, Harlow, arrived to visit her in London. Harlow had been living in Australia for a few years, but she and Harriet had been very close when Harlow was growing up, with her aunt taking her to shows and museums, and Harlow was keen to use her mum’s old diaries to learn more about her and visit some of her old haunts. As the pair caught up with each other, Harlow opened up about the real reason for accepting Harriet’s invitation to visit - she had developed feelings for Ned Willis, who had been like a brother to her whilst living in Australia, and was struggling with him not wanting to be with her and getting back together with his girlfriend, Amy.

As Harlow and Harriet caught up and spent some time together, they realised that the diary was gone, but, after retracing their steps, were unable to find it. When Harlow went to meet her aunt the next day, she was surprised when Harriet ran away from her, before tripping and falling. As Harlow helped Harriet to pick up the spilled contents of her bag, she was surprised to see her mum’s diary. Harriet admitted that she’d taken it, as the Restoration Order - the cult that Prue had been a member of - had offered her £10,000, believing that the diary contained incriminating information about them. Harlow was surprised, having believed that her aunt was well off, but Harriet was forced to admit that her partner, Steve, had left her three months earlier, she’d lost her job when the magazine she worked for had gone online, and the bank was foreclosing on her flat, so the offer had been very tempting, despite her hatred for the Order.

After thinking things through, Harlow spoke to Corey Smythe-Jones - who she’d met at her hotel, where she was staying because Harriet had claimed that her flat was being renovated. Unaware that Corey was actually part of the Order, Harlow took his advice as he suggested burning the diary so it caused no more problems. Harlow then met up with Harriet, who apologised, admitting that the idea of selling the diary had been an act of desperation. Harlow understood, even offering to give Harriet some money to get her back on her feet. Harriet insisted that she would manage, and that she already had some plans, starting with apologising to Steve for her behaviour. Harlow and Harriet then patched up their differences over a bottle of wine, before spending the remainder of the week together.
