Soon after moving back to Erinsborough with her family, Julie Martin bumped into old friend Linda Walsh, who explained that, having married and been stationed overseas with her husband Robert, she too had just returned to town. Linda asked Julie to meet her for lunch so that they could discuss their lavish lifestyles, with Julie too embarrassed to admit that her former bank manager husband Philip was now in a menial hotel job, whilst interviewing for better work. During lunch, Linda spoke about a beautiful three-storey house that she and her family were hoping to move into and told Julie that they should come over to dinner once they were settled in. Linda then rushed off for a hair appointment, leaving Julie to scrape together the money for the bill.
