As Sheila Canning struggled to cope with the loss of her son, Gary, lashing out at people and blaming Susan Kennedy for bringing Gary's killer Finn Kelly to Ramsay Street, her family grew increasingly concerned about her pushing everyone away. When her grandson Kyle offered to join her for a grief support group at the local community centre, Sheila was reluctant but, with Kyle's support, she went inside. They listened as another member of the group, Candy, spoke about her own loss and then Sheila started to open up about Gary, becoming tearful as she spoke about her son.
