Who moved here: Connor O'Neill
Colin Taylor mentioned spending time travelling in China, while Dr Peter Hannay spent time there doing aid work with Medicins Sans Frontieres. When Connor O'Neill mysteriously disappeared from Ramsay Street in 2006, it was wrongly believed that he had been bumped off by Robert Robinson, after learning his secret plot to kill his father, Paul. However, when Connor's wallet was found in China and taken to the Australian embassy, it was revealed that he had simply left the country and, soon after, a package from Connor to his friends, marking St Patrick's Day, proved that he was still alive and well.

Who lived here: Su Chan
In 1994, Lou Carpenter met his long-lost daughter, Ling Mai Chan, who was a university lecturer, and came out from Hong Kong to meet him. The Lim family also arrived in Erinsborough from Hong Kong, spending a few weeks living in Ramsay Street before moving to Eden Hills, and in 1985, Maria Ramsay moved there with boyfriend Richard Morrison, though within a year she was back in Australia and contacting ex-husband Max to arrange a reunion.

Japan

Who moved here: Serendipity Gottlieb, Luke Handley
Colin Taylor mentioned spending time travelling in Japan, while, after finally getting their act together as a couple and agreeing to get married, Ren and Luke's world was turned upside-down when he was offered a job teaching English in Japan. Realising that they had little keeping them in Erinsborough and the opportunity was too good to miss, they bid farewell but a few months later, Luke was back, suffering from depression, after the new life in Japan had gone badly. Though Ren had adapted well, Luke had struggled and walked out on her.
Malaysia
Who moved here: Brenda Riley, Roy Riley, Danni Stark, Luke Handley
In early 1992, after reuniting with her husband, Roy, Brenda Riley decided to accept his offer of a new life together in Malaysia and bid Ramsay Street farewell. In 1996, designer Danni Stark was offered work in Malaysia and left Erinsborough and her boyfriend Luke Handley behind. A few months later, Danni contracted malaria and Luke left to look after her, later finding work and deciding to stay out there.
Middle East
Who moved here: Riley Parker, Mr & Mrs Atkins
When Caitlin, Ben and Nick's father accepted a job in the Middle East, Caitlin refused to go, instead joining her brother Ben in Erinsborough. Mr & Mrs Atkins returned to Australia the following year, and Caitlin and Nick left to join them. In 2008, Riley Parker, desperate to escape the clutches of his adoptive aunt Nicola West, took a job working with journalists in the Middle East and fled Erinsborough in the middle of the night.
