The second largest city in Victoria, located close to Melbourne, Geelong was home for Caitlin Atkins' friend, Mandi Rogers, who regularly travelled to Erinsborough to be part of the swim team. When A Good Hair Day salon owner Gino Esposito was opening a new business in the coastal town of Lorne, located on the Great Ocean Road, he decided to employ Lori Lee as his full-time manager, meaning that she could be independent but still close enough to Erinsborough so that Connor O'Neill, the father of Lori's daughter, Maddy, could visit.

The Anderson family moved to Erinsborough in 1990 to run a newsagency, but disaster struck when a truck went through the front of the shop. Josh decided to stay in Erinsborough while his family returned to Mildura, though he joined them in 1992.
