Born 25th August 1984, Ben Barber grew up in the city of Warrnambool, attending Brauer College, where he acted in the school's annual musicals. After graduating, he joined the army reserve, but later returned to acting, attending a part-time course at Victorian College of the Arts, and then being accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA). In 2008, he appeared in the NIDA productions of East is East and Death and the Maiden, and in 2009, the short films One More Day and Jimmy Tennison. Following two episodes of Home & Away, Ben was cast in Neighbours, in the regular role of the manipulative Dr Rhys Lawson. He remained with the series for almost two years, making his final appearance on Australian screens in March 2013, when his character was killed off.
