Simone Louise Buchanan was born 11th March 1968 in Marrickville, New South Wales, Australia.
Simone made her acting debut with a role in the TV movie A Good Thing Going, aged ten and began her career in children's television. However she is best known for her role as Debbie Kelly in the hit sitcom Hey Dad...!, starring in the role for four seasons.
Afterwards, she went to star in films such as Shame and in the short-lived soap, Pacific Drive. Roles in popular Australian series such as Sons and Daughters, A Country Practice and All Saints followed. In 1998, Simone gave birth to her first child, Tane. She then took a two year break from acting, apart from a few odd appearances, in order to devote her time to raising her son.
In the following years, Simone guest-starred in series such as
McLeod's Daughters and Blue Heelers. In late 2007, Simone joined Neighbours in the extended guest role of
Samantha Fitzgerald, following in the footsteps of sister Beth, who played Gemma Ramsay in 1990-1991. The character appeared for
two months, then returned at the end of the year for a further 8-week appearance, and again in late 2010 for 4 weeks.
