Kate Ceberano Singer
Kate Ceberano 2010
After a difficult year in which her mum Jill
had died, Kate Ramsay was in two minds about celebrating her 18th birthday, as the party had been something
that she and her mum had been thinking about for a long time. However, her family and friends were determined that it would still be an occasion to remember, arranging a surprise
party at Charlie's, with celebrity guest Kate Ceberano. Kate was slightly overwhelmed by the party, and by the celebrity guest, who sang Beautiful Life and
explained that Jill had played piano for her on stage many years ago, so she was happy to come and sing. She also commented that Kate was a lot like her mum.
Born 17th November 1966, Kate Ceberano first found fame with her band I'm Talking, who won
numerous music industry awards, but split up after their first album. Kate then began a very successful solo music career with the album Kate Ceberano and Her Septet in
1987, and she went on to receive several ARIA awards in the late 1980s. 1992 saw her perform as Mary in an Australia-wide tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, and in 1993, she
appeared in her own late-night cabaret show, Kate Ceberano and Friends. Her music career continued in the 1990s as she released the 1996 Gold album Blue Box and in
1997, the single Pash. In 2005, Kate was a judge on the first Australian series of The X Factor and two years later, she won the sixth series of Dancing with the Stars.
In 2007, she released the album Nine Lime Avenue, followed in 2008 by So Much Beauty and in 2009 by Merry Christmas. She continues to do a great deal of work for charity,
and in television as a guest host on The Circle and Getaway.
