Born in Perth, to parents with a strong interest in music, Coco-Jacinta Cherian was always destined for a creative career, and began performing in school productions at the age of eight. Aged twelve, she joined the Children's Performing Company of Australia, and attended the the Howqua Campus of Lauriston Girls School in the Victorian Alps and she went on to appear as Cosette in 2008 OSCA production of Les Miserables and in the film Taj in 2011. Later that year, aged 14, she won the role of Rani Kapoor, the teenage daughter of school principal Priya and local councillor Ajay, in Neighbours. She remained in the role for a year and a half, filming her final scenes as a regular in April 2013, and last appearing on screen in July of the same year. Coco then returned for three episodes later in 2013, to wrap up Rani's storylines.
