Born 4th April 1994, in Johannesburg, South Africa, Ariel Erin Kaplan moved to Australia with her family in 1996. She followed her older sister, Dena Kaplan and Gemma-Ashley Kaplan into a career in dancing and acting, and studied at The Jane Moore Academy of Ballet in Melbourne. Many of her early performances were in stage musicals, including Oliver!, Annie and Les Miserables, and between 2005 and 2006, she appeared as Young Nala in The Lion King.

Ariel's big break into television came in 2008, when she joined the cast of The Saddle Club, taking over the role of Lisa Atwood from Lara Jean Marshall for the show's third season. In 2012, Ariel made a guest appearance in drama series Tangle as a schoolgirl, and in early 2013, she was cast in Neighbours in the regular role of Imogen Willis, making her first appearance on screen in May 2013. Later that year, Ariel cut short her trademark long wavy hair, donating it to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths programmes, helping women with cancer.
