Born 27th July 1973, and the daughter of director and actor David Kendall, Kate Kendall studied at Adelaide's Center for Performing Arts with
her father, where one of her earliest theatre roles was in the play Miss Julie. Following a 1997 guest role in Blue Heelers, she went on to arguably her best-known role, as detective Angie Piper in Stingers, a part
she played for the series' entire eight seasons. After Stingers came to an end, Kate returned to the theatre to play Stephanie in Cheech, as well as appearing on television in the mini-series The Starter Wife
and in comedy The Librarians.
Kate went on to appear in guest roles in Australian dramas City Homicide and Rush, whilst in 2011, she appeared as bipolar disorder-sufferer Diana in the Melbourne Theatre Company's Next to Normal,
and in 2012, was part of the cast of the world premiere of the musical An Officer and a Gentleman in which she played Lynette. 2012 also saw Kate appear as Emily in the 12-part Australian drama Conspiracy 365.
In late 2012, Kate joined the cast of Neighbours in the regular role of Lauren Turner, a part that had previously been played by Sarah Vandenbergh twenty years earlier.
In 2004, Kate married former AFL player Wayne Johnston.
