Actor, Cameo & Crew Profiles > Cameo Profiles > Dr Karl Kruszelnicki Scientist

Dr Karl Kruszelnicki 2004

Dr Karl came to Erinsborough to film for National Science Week in front of local restaurant Grease Monkeys. As Dr Karl spoke about the 50s-style diner and about Elvis Presley and his ability to curl his lip, waitress Sky Mangel, one of Dr Karl’s biggest fans, found herself drifting into shot as she attempted to get close to the man of her dreams. As part of the filming, Sky was supposed to join in during a staff dance, which would form the background of one of Dr Karl’s scenes. Sky, however, wasn’t prepared to lower herself to performing the terrible dance routine and ended up quitting her job in the middle of filming. To top off a rather average day for Dr Karl, he got to meet Erinsborough’s very own Dr Karl, local G.P. Karl Kennedy.

Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, commonly known as Dr Karl, is a scientist and author, who regularly takes part in science-related radio and television shows in both Australia and the UK. He has been a regular on shows such as Good Morning Australia and Sunrise and has had jobs including mechanic, doctor and TV weatherman. Dr Karl has written 24 books, was voted the 2003 Australian Father Of The Year and is well known for the loud shirts he wears.
