After relaunching the Scarlet Bar as Charlie’s, Steph Scully started bringing in musical acts to a newly-built stage in the hope of attracting more customers. Firstly Robyn Loau played during the launch of Valda Sheergold’s lingerie website, then everyone was very impressed when Steph managed to get Australian Idol winner Damien Leith in to perform his song, 22 Steps.

Born January 18th 1976 in Dublin, Damien Leith rose to fame in Australia as a contestant on the 2006 series of Australian Idol, going on to win the title in December of that year. His interest in music began when he was young, and he continued gigging after moving to Sydney, where he also found work as a chemist. In 2006, he auditioned for the fourth series of Australian Idol, which he went on to win, releasing first album The Winner’s Journey soon after, followed by Where We Land in August 2007.
