Chris Lowe 1995

Whilst preparing to leave to visit some art markets one day, Marlene Kratz and Helen Daniels were approached in Ramsay Street by a man in a sports car, looking for a local recording studio. The man explained that he was lost and, when asked, explained that he was a member of the group, the Pet Shop Boys. Marlene remembered the studios from some recording her grandchildren, Brett and Danni, had done the year before and pointed the man in the right direction. As he drove away, Marlene and Helen were joined by Marlene’s lodger, Annalise Hartman, who asked who he was. When told that he was a member of the Pet Shop Boys, Annalise was horrified and stormed off, saying that she was one of their biggest fans and owned all of their records.

English musician Chris Lowe forms one half of the Pet Shop Boys with Neil Tennant. Chris was studying architecture when he met Neil in 1981 and they formed the group. Since their first big hit, West End Girls, released in late 1985, they have gone on to have 38 Top 40 hits in the UK, four of which went to number one.
