Born in 1996, Calen MacKenzie first started taking acting classes because he was a shy person, hoping that it would be a confident booster. Before joining Neighbours as series regular Bailey Turner, Calen had appeared in the series two years earlier, in 2011 playing guest character Thomas McPhee.

Calen has had acting roles in features such as Face to Face, Dangerous Remedy and The Mystery of a Hamsom Cab.

In 2013, he appeared as a recurring character in several episodes of the first season of the series The Time of Our Lives, in which he played Jesse Reid. During this time Calen auditioned for the role of Bailey Turner - he found out he got the part one week later, and for a short while Calen undertook both roles on Neighbours and The Time of Our Lives.
