John Orcsik

John Orcsik, born 3rd May 1945, is an Australian actor of Hungarian descent.
In 1967, he appeared in soap opera Bellbird, and went on to play six different guest roles in the police drama Division 4, five roles in Matlock Police and four different characters in Homicide. He
had a role in the television serial Number 96 as Simon Carr in 1972, and subsequently played Simon again in the feature-film version which was released in 1974.
More film and television roles followed, with John appearing in Bluey, The Sullivans and Chopper Squad in the 1970s. Arguably his biggest role came in 1978, when John joined Cop Shop as Detective
Mike Georgiou. The character of Mike would go on to marry Danni Francis, played by Paula Duncan - with John and Paula also becoming a couple and marrying in real life. The couple later divorced, but remained best friends, acting
together again in Paradise Beach in 1993, as well as doing charity work and making an advert for Sleeptight, a snoring treatment, in 2016.
John also worked as a television scriptwriter, contributing scripts to Division 4 in the 1970s and to the series Prisoner Cell Block H in 1985. He also continued acting through the 1980s and 1990s playing numerous roles in
television movies and series, including Displaced Persons, Kokoda Crescent, The Hijacking of the Achille Lauro, Home and Away, Pacific Drive and Medivac. Between 1999 and 2002, John appeared
in Neighbours in the recurring guest role of Ron Kirk, father of regular character Drew.
John’s more recent acting appearances include All Saints, Rush, Better Man and The Doctor Blake Mysteries.
In 2012, John returned to Neighbours, this time in the guest role of Father Vincent Guiddoti, who he reprised for four episodes in 2016, when the character was killed off.
