Matt Preston Restaurant Critic, Masterchef Judge
Matt Preston 2015
During Erinsborough's 2015 festival, one of many events held in the area was a bake-off, with the first prize being a return
trip to London. Entrants included Ramsay Street's own Sheila Canning, Susan Kennedy,
Karl Kennedy and Brad Willis, as well as returning former resident
Janelle Timmins. As war broke out between Janelle, Susan and Sheila, most of the cakes ended up on the floor, meaning that when surprise judge
Matt Preston arrived, only Karl's trifle was still intact. Having survived Karl's fawning and Sheila's flirting, Matt announced that Karl was the winner by default. Susan, Sheila and Janelle then prepared to storm off in
disgust, until they heard that, before they all ended up on the floor, the cakes had been sampled and the three women were the joint winners of the People's Choice Award.
Born 2nd July 1961 in London, England, Matt Preston is best known as a judge on Masterchef Australia. He has worked as a food journalist and restaurant
critic for publications including The Age, Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph newspapers, and delicious. and Vogue Entertaining magazines, and since 2009, has judged Masterchef Australia alongside
Gary Mehigan and Georgia Calombaris, a role which won him the 2010 Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent at the Logies. He has been married to Emma since 1999, and the couple have three children together.
