Glenn Wheatley Manager
Glenn Wheatley 2002
When Erinsborough resident Nina Tucker won the UNIfm ‘Undiscovered’ competition, for up and coming musical stars, with her song Born To Try, she also won the chance to perform it at an all-ages gig at Hemisfear nightclub. Despite Nina’s almost-crippling nerves, the crowd was amazed by her and amongst them was talent manager Glenn Wheatley. Glenn approached Nina at the end of the night and handed her his card, asking her to give him a call. An excited Nina contacted him and arranged a meeting the next day, but was disappointed to learn that, as she was under 18, she would need her parents’ permission before signing a contract. Not wanting her parents to interfere in her new career, Nina turned down Glenn’s offer.
A former musician, Glenn Wheatley’s own experiences as a poorly-treated band member led to his decision to become a manager himself. After living in the UK and the USA, Wheatley returned to Australia and set up The Wheatley Organisation and, over the years that followed, he contributed to the great success of acts such as Little River Band and John Farnham. Since the late 80s, he has also been involved in radio broadcasting and, in 1996, he founded talent management agency, TalentWorks. In 2002, Glenn started managing rising star Delta Goodrem, which led to his cameo in Neighbours, though he and Delta parted ways the following year.
