Andrew Williams has been a Dharma Teacher since 1998, initially in the USA and now in Australia. He has studied and received teachings in all of the three major Buddhist traditions of Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana. He is currently a resident teacher at the Yung Yang Buddhist Temple and Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Centre. He regularly teaches at Tieu Dao Meditation Centre, Sakyamuni Sambuddha Vihara and occasionally at various other Dharma centres, Buddhist Clubs and in the general public. He also acts as a prison and hospital chaplain.
Andrew is on the UN Vesak committee and has written four musicals that have been performed at the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Vesak events at Melbourne Town Hall. (The fourth is to be performed at the 2013 event). These musicals have been released as CD's for free distribution.
In 2011 and 2012 Andrew acted as MC and also performed at the Sydney UN Vesak event at Sydney Town Hall. He has also been the MC and performed at various other Buddhist and Interfaith events. This year he represented The Buddhist Federation of Australia at the World Fellowship of Buddhists Conference in South Korea. He has also acted as one of the editors of the Sanskrit/Vietnamese/English Buddhist Dictionary and the book Unveiling Your Sacred Truth.
Andrew is involved with Casey Multifaith Network and co-host of the Voice of Faith radio program. He was born in Wales, UK, in 1962 and immigrated to Australia in 1968. He has travelled extensively and lived in many different countries, so has many years of experience with multicultural and interfaith relations.
He has also had an extensive career in the entertainment industry, predominately as a singer, songwriter and musician, and is known to TV audiences for his acting roles in shows including Melrose Place, E-Street and Neighbours; and has appeared or performed on numerous other TV shows both in Australia and overseas.
