David Wilson and GO 101 1990
When Dorothy Burke took over as the new principal at Erinsborough High, she soon implemented many changes, including single sex classes and the closure of the year 12 common room, which didn’t go down well with students. When she then announced plans for a compulsory music appreciation class each week, the kids were convinced that they’d be forced to sit through hours of classical music. However, when Dorothy let slip to a stunned Melanie Pearson that pop group GO 101 would be appearing at the school, Mel – their biggest fan – couldn’t resist donning a school uniform and sneaking in for the concert. As she was spotted on school grounds by Cody Willis and her friends, Mel told them exactly why she was there, but the kids were still reluctant to believe that Mrs Burke was cool after all. But, as the concert began, they were amazed to be treated to several songs by GO 101 and, afterwards, Dorothy introduced the kids to the lead singer, David Wilson, one of her former pupils, with whom Melanie couldn’t resist getting in a quick kiss.
GO 101 were a pop group in the late 1980s, who had hits including Build It Up, but had very little success outside of Australasia. If you have any more information on this group, please contact us.
