Ramsay Street was a confusing place, with a week consisting of hitmen, bikinis and pink lycra…

A worried Izzy agreed to Darcy’s blackmail demands this week, struggling to get together the $70,000 he was asking for. When she only brought him $5000, he gave her a deadline that afternoon, or else he would tell both Karl and her family everything. Although she managed to get him a cheque for the other $65,000, he told her that she was five minutes late and so there were some new clauses. Firstly, she had to give him $200 a week for the rest of his life and secondly, they got to spend some “quality time” together. For Izzy, this was the final straw and she made a desperate plea to Paul for help, asking if he knew of anyone who could “remove” Darcy. Paul gave her a number of a man he knew, but Izzy backed out of calling him at the last minute. It wasn’t until she confronted Darcy again that she realised that she needed to do something to stop him. However, her meeting with Clem Dyson proved to be something of a disaster, as Paul had actually given her the number of a linen merchant he used to use at the hotel. Izzy managed to eventually see the funny side of things, realising that Paul had probably stopped her from making a big mistake. By the end of the week, Darcy was on trial and Izzy was in yet another quandary. She realised that Darcy would reveal her secret unless she gave him a positive character reference. This, however, would leave her facing Karl’s wrath. After struggling to get out of going to court, Izzy finally decided that helping Darcy was the best course of action and she reported to the judge that he didn’t deserve to go back to prison. Darcy ended up receiving a 12 month good behaviour bond and Karl was horrified.

It wasn’t all fun and games for Paul though, as he struggled to come to terms with having one of his legs amputated. Although Paul still held him responsible, Dylan continued his visits, ignoring the abuse and violent outbursts from Paul and trying to convince him to start having physio and move on with his life. Similar attempts by Karl to get Paul out and about using a wheelchair were met with more hostility. When he was moved to a new room, however, Paul suddenly found something more interesting to think about when he was placed next to Darcy. As Toadie visited Darcy to discuss the court case, Paul realised that this was the man that Izzy wanted rid of. The two men shared notes on Izzy and Paul admitted that he was very impressed with the way Darcy had run rings around her, although she shouldn’t be underestimated either. As the week concluded, Paul finally had a glimmer of a good mood when Susan called in to see Darcy, realised he wasn’t there, but stayed for a brief chat anyway. She informed Paul that his sitting around in hospital was a terrible waste of an inspiring teacher.

Bikini shop-related dramas continued apace as Toadie realised that Connor had been trying to keep him away from the business by claiming that all of the customers were old and ugly. Toadie soon decided that he wanted to help out with the shop, but found that his nerves got the better of him around the attractive ladies and he put them all off by swearing profusely. In the end, he decided to turn down the heating, but this ended up putting off the few remaining customers. Connor then told him that the best tactic was to visualise something revolting that would take his mind off the girls as he served them – in Connor’s case, this was Toadie in a bikini. But Toadie quickly realised that they also needed a woman working in the shop and as Serena chastised them about mixing up their one pieces with their… two pieces, Toadie hired her. Back at number 30, Stuart and Sindi were also having issues, as his religious Aunt Raylene came for a visit. In the hope of her sending a good report back to Oakey, they were forced to dress Sindi up conservatively and pretend that they’d met at the local church. As the lies got more elaborate – pretending that Connor was the local priest – they were horrified to realise that Raylene would be around for the rest of the week and they were going to have to maintain the pretence.

The Hoylands had plenty to celebrate this week as Summer heard about a specialist boarding school in Wangaratta, where she could go and devote her time to piano. Summer wasn’t keen to go, but Max eventually convinced her that she should at least take the entrance exam and see if she could win a scholarship. Meanwhile, Max and Steph were thrilled as they were finally allowed to go to the hospital and visit Kayla and Ashley, following the cooling off period. As Boyd continued his secret visits to mother and baby, he’d finally had enough of Max and Steph talking about Ashley. He snapped and told them that Kayla didn’t want to give her baby away. During their visit, they confronted Kayla with Boyd’s claims, but she assured them that it wasn’t true and she still wanted them to adopt her child. Realising that Kayla didn’t think she’d be able to cope alone, Boyd suddenly made the suggestion that he could help her raise the child and be a father to Ashley. Kayla was only too happy to accept this offer but then Boyd realised that he would have the break the news to Steph and his dad.

David had something of a new lease of life this week, after watching his dad rejoin the Salvation Army. He began to realise that it might also be the solution he was looking for if he wanted to become a better person. Meanwhile, Lil and David went out for dinner together, giving David renewed hope that they could patch up their marriage. In fact, he was so hopeful that he asked her to move back in the very next day. Lil was forced to let him down gently, and began thinking about where her future was, and with whom.

Finally this week, Harold and Lou thought they’d broken a plate in a parcel left by Sindi at the post office. However, after spending all day gluing it back together, she told them that it was meant to be broken, as her mother made mosaics as a hobby. Stingray found himself a new job with a courier company run by Go-Go Riley, but was left humiliated by the tight, pink uniform, whilst Dylan and Sky cemented their relationship and he helped her get the autograph of her favourite comic book artist, Ted Freisner.
