Secrets and revelations caused heartache for several residents…

Having received a 12 month good behaviour bond, Darcy was finally free of prison and able to move on. Following the day in court, he met up with Izzy and told her that he was completely clearing their debt. Although a delighted Izzy thought that her secret was now safe once again, little did she realise that Darcy was about to leave behind a ticking time bomb. As he announced to Susan that he was going to make a fresh start away from Erinsborough, she waved him off from the front door, before noticing a letter he’d left on the table. As she read about Izzy’s exploits, Darcy also bumped into Karl, warning him that he would soon be forced to rely on Susan. Susan was then left confused with how to deal with the information that Izzy’s baby had not been Karl’s. Opting not to confide in gossipy Lyn, she instead shared the secret with Lil. After one look at the letter, Lil decided that it was genuine, but Susan still thought that she had too little proof to simply blurt things out to Karl. Lil suggested going to the hospital and checking out the records herself, but Susan wasn’t quite sure what to do. The next day, after encountering Karl at Lassiter’s, Susan decided that the past was in the past and nothing could be changed now. She ripped up the letter and announced that she didn’t want to hear another word about it.

Auntie Raylene was back in Ramsay Street this week and a desperate Stu and Sindi managed to convince Connor to dress up as Father O’Neill for the visit. Raylene was delighted to meet the local priest and the afternoon was a success, despite Toadie bursting in with his trousers down and a bottle of champagne, having won Darcy’s case for him. Sindi managed to convince Raylene that Toadie was a local lad with mental problems, who they looked after out of the goodness of their hearts. The next obstacle was an angry Serena who wanted to know why she’d hardly received any shifts at the bikini shop. Fortunately, they convinced Raylene that it was a charity shop, for the Brotherhood of Louis Carpenter. Just as it looked like they’d managed to get away with it, the next day, Sindi and Stu were walking Auntie Raylene to the bus station when they passed the bikini shop and she spotted Toadie and Serena inside. As she walked in, she then spotted Connor helping a young lady put her bikini on. Horrified at being deceived, she assured Stuart that his mother would get to hear about this. Luckily, mother Parker saw the funny side of the situation. Meanwhile, it looked like a serious rivalry was building between Connor and Serena at the shop, as she impressed everyone with her ideas to boost business – including a new range of men’s clothing. However, the tables were then turned as Serena struggled to compose herself around the male clientele, and Connor confided in her that she should picture something really gross in her head as she served them. Little did he know that she was picturing him.

It was a week of ups and downs for the Hoyland family, with Boyd struggling to break the news that he was going to help Kayla bring up baby Ashley. As Boyd spent time on his own, Kayla became concerned that he’d changed his mind, but he then assured her that he was still prepared to go through with it. When Steph and Max turned up the next morning to collect Ashley, they were met with Boyd in the hospital room, who explained the plan to his horrified parents. A concerned Max suggested that Boyd might not be thinking rationally, even mentioning his recent brain tumour, but Boyd assured him that he knew what he was getting himself into. But as Max tried to understand his son’s decision, a furious Steph blew up at him and told him how selfish he was being, before turning to her mum for comfort. Things only got worse as Boyd asked if he, Kayla and Ashley would be able to stay at number 32 for a while. As Max tried to do what was best for everyone, Steph saw red and stormed out, even preparing to move back home. And, as Summer won her scholarship to music school and prepared to leave, she finally told Boyd a few home truths, announcing that he’d wrecked the family.

Paul’s self-pity continued this week as Dylan and Sky went to visit him. As Dylan rushed out of the room to get junk food at Paul’s request, Sky was left alone with the man she loathed. She told him that Dylan would never leave his side, as he loved him and would do anything for him. Those words finally made Paul think and he agreed to Dylan taking him out to the car to get his beer. However, the trip ended up at Lassiter’s, where Dylan left Paul outside the bar to get him a drink. Paul became increasingly paranoid that everyone was staring at him and ended up screaming at Dylan to take him back to the hospital. Later in the week, Paul was amused at the turn of events when Salvation Army worker David was forced to visit him. As David took him out for some fresh air, Paul couldn’t resist taunting his old foe about Lil and how wonderful it was to be with her. He assured David that once he was better, he’d be back trying to win Liljana. As they reached the top of a hill, Paul then told David that this was his one chance and that he should let go of the wheelchair. David shocked Paul by letting go, but, as he raced towards a main road, Paul suddenly realised that he didn’t want to die and leapt from his chair, with David racing after him. The whole incident made Paul realise that he had to change. He apologised to David and then called Lil in for a visit. He begged her for one final chance, but she told him that they’d already used up that chance, before walking out of his life.

Finally this week, the Timmins family found a novel new way to make money – by finding people’s lost pets and receiving the rewards, Janelle was finally let loose on people’s hair at the salon, but scared off Harold and Lou by suggesting she wax their backs, and Stingray was having issues with his new boss, Go-Go, as he couldn’t work out whether she fancied him or was just harrassing him.
