A new face looked set to cause trouble in Erinsborough…

As Izzy recovered from her arrest, Stuart explained to Paul that she’d received a warning and a ban from obtaining prescription drugs. Paul then decided to make it his goel to help her get over her problem, but Izzy wasn’t prepared to be the victim and packed her bags to leave. However, Paul stopped her in her tracks by announcing that he was in love with her and Izzy agreed to stay and give their relationship a chance, despite all of the obstacles. But it looked like it would be something of a long road to recovery, as Izzy was rejected when she tried to apologise to Max for her recent behaviour and then flew off the handle again when Paul wouldn’t let her leave the house. After a few days stuck at home, Izzy went to the Scarlet Bar, where she was found by Boyd, helping herself to money and alcohol. After being taken home, Izzy opened up to Paul about what a bad person she was, and how guilty she felt about the way she’d treated Max. The candid conversation led to Izzy and Paul finally sharing a kiss and moving on to a physical relationship – something that had terrified Paul since he lost his leg. But just as Paul and Izzy were getting their relationship on track, there was a huge surprise in store when his daughter, Lucinda, known as Elle, turned up in Erinsborough. At first, Elle kept her parentage to herself and befriended the house of trouser boys in the bar. After a night in the penthouse suite, Elle and the boys set off the smoke alarms, causing a furious Paul to check on the troublemaking guests and come face to face with his daughter. After a chat about their lack of contact over the years, Paul decided to make an effort with Elle and let her stay at number 22. However, Elle was in for a shock if she thought she’d got her dad all to herself, as she was introduced to Izzy and the stage was set for war. After only one episode, Pippa Black seems to have made an impact as the mysterious Elle. It’s nice to see Paul’s history being used like this and hopefully Elle can add some spice to Izzy and Paul before they become too domesticated.

Meanwhile, in Colac, Janae was desperately trying to find her dad. Her first port of call was the home of Tracey Richardson, Janelle’s former best friend and the woman Mrs Timmins was claiming had stolen her husband. Tracey denied this, explaining that Kim would never, ever cheat on Janelle. Janae then went to the home of her Nana and Pop, who were away on a cruise, and spoke to their housekeeper, Nancy. Nancy only backed up what Tracey had said and revealed that Kim marrying Janelle had left him cut off from his rich parents and Janelle had never forgiven him for their poor family life. Although Janae was desperate to hold up the coast for a surfing carnival, where she hoped her dad would be, she was stopped by Stingray and Dylan. Her brothers had visited Colac to get Janae to return to Erinsborough and help save Karl’s reputation. Back at home, Janae admitted to her mum that Karl hadn’t done anything untoward, and they raced to the school, where the good doctor was being ripped apart at his disciplinary hearing. Having cleared Karl’s name, Janae then told her mum that she knew the truth and was going to find her father. Meanwhile, Janelle tried to apologise to Karl for the way she’d treated him over the Janae issue, but Karl was quick to point out that Janelle was solely to blame for all of her kids’ problems. He also decided that he needed a break from Erinsborough and used the trip to Europe he’d planned with Izzy to go and spend a couple of weeks with Mal and Cath in London.

Serena went through with her threat to move out, this week, as she packed up and moved across the street to the house of trouser. Lil and David weren’t about to take it lying down though, and as Serena continued her shifts at the General Store, they took the opportunity to remind her of what a mistake she was making. However, David then decided that he couldn’t let the feuding continue and he called into number 30 with some food for Serena. She was delighted to see him and showed him her business plan, before asking if he could try to talk Lil ‘round too. He agreed, but it looked like he was fighting a losing battle as Lil refused to sign a card for her daughter, congratulating her on buying into Bounce. As Serena struggled to cope with her mother’s rejection, there was soon something else to worry about when Connor announced that he had to go to Lorne, as Maddy was seriously ill…

A dinner between the Mangels, Hoylands and Scullys ended badly this week, as Sky and Steph began a feud over whether their parents should be dating each other. As Steph then proceeded to lay into Joe about his lack of work ethic, it struck a chord with Sky, who started to think about her real father. Meanwhile another relationship was thrown into turmoil when, following the gas leak, Alex had some tests at the hospital. It was left to Karl, not knowing that Alex was Susan’s new boyfriend, to break the news that Alex had Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma – a particularly aggressive form of leukaemia, and only had months to live. A devastated Alex decided to keep the news to himself, but flew off the handle at the kids when he found out that they’d attempted to cash the $1000 cheque they’d found. Fortunately, Susan was on hand to smooth over the situation and calm Alex down, and he admitted that he didn’t know how he’d cope without her.

Elsewhere this week, Lou’s midlife crisis continued as he challenged Harold to a waiter’s race, to prove that he wasn’t over the hill just yet. Mike continued to goad Dylan, who decided to set the date for their big fight for the following week, whilst Boyd began sitting the exams that would determine whether he could make it into medical school. And finally, Joe found a way to get Bouncer 5 to run, when the greyhound spotted little Audrey and chased her down the street. However, it would take some convincing for Susan to allow her dog to be used as bait.
