It was a week of nudity, romance, blackmail and life-threatening drama…

Paul’s scheme to destroy The General Store continued this week, and with his business about to go under, Lou was forced to take desperate measures when he punched Paul, however, he really was downloading dirty videos when ‘Concerned friend’ delivered him a lifeline by way of the security camera footage of Izzy and Ned, leaving Izzy forced to try to help him save The General Store, despite Harold’s disapproval of the scheme. However, as Paul thought about what to do next in his scheme to ruin Harold and Lou, Izzy found herself unable to do anything to save The General Store, or herself as Paul quickly dismissed her protests. At least one of Izzy’s schemes did seem to go right this week as Dylan and Elle drew closer after working together at Lucinda’s, with a little unintentional help from Sky and her radio show.

Ned found an easy way to make money when he became a life model for an art class, much to Stuart’s amusement; however, the younger Parker brother was in for a shock when he discovered that Sky was one of the students and after picking Sky up from her class, Dylan discovered the naked truth about Ned, which left him feeling rather inadequate in comparison.

Over at the Kinski house, Zeke finally broke his silence on Monday in order to save his sister, Rachel after she was electrocuted, which lead to some sibling bonding between the three Kinski children, leaving Susan struggling with what to do with the information she had gained about Katya. However, she was quick to warn her stepdaughter that she wasn’t afraid to use it. Also, Katya was left with one less card to play when Karl took Susan’s advice and gave Jenny a call and they resumed their relationship.

Meanwhile, Steph remained determined not to have the baby naturally, or treatment for her cancer until Max returned and despite all her own troubles, Susan proved to be a great support to Lyn. As her condition worsened, Steph dreamt about what life would be like for Charlie without her, and decided not to wait any longer. However, just as Karl was preparing to induce labour Susan arrived and gave Steph the baby blanket used for Drew and Ben Kirk, at which point Steph’s waters broke, fulfilling her wish for a natural birth. As his wife fought for the both her life and that of her baby, Max, along with Summer and Boyd, fought to reach her in time, however as things began to look worse, Lyn turned to God, praying for Steph to live and Max to arrive in time for the birth and despite various mishaps, the Hoyland family were united in time for Max to support Steph through the delivery. Max’s arrival left Lyn feeling a little rejected that her daughter no longer needed her, but Susan managed to convince her that things were how they were meant to be, and that she had she prayed for Max to be there earlier. Sat in the waiting room, Lyn feared for her daughter’s life as Karl seemed worried about Steph refusing the caesarean section, but the doctor managed to reassure her that Max wouldn’t let Steph risk her life. Karl also pointed out that it was important for Max and Steph to be together during the birth, as it was a bonding experience and in a rare show of sentiment, Karl recalled Libby’s birth, leading to a tender moment between the doctor and the former Mrs Kennedy.

Still struggling to bring in enough money from the hot dog cart to pay for his wedding, Kim resorted to less legal methods when a friend of Stingray asked him for some more of the DVD’s he had copied. Also, Angie and Janelle went head to head in the boxing ring, which left the latter with more than a bruised ego after she discovered her husband might have made a move on her much-despised sister-in-law. Meanwhile Stingray enlisted Bree’s help as he struggled to find his feet on his Media course at university, leading to him gaining much praise from his tutors and classmates. Boyd also struggled at university this week when he had his first ‘Gross Anatomy’ class and the sight of the cadaver brought back memories of his mum’s death, and heightened his worries about his stepmother, Steph. Also, Janae’s jealously grew as she saw Boyd opening up to Sacha about his mum and Steph, causing Janelle to step in, only to take her second beating of the week, this time verbally.

On a lighter note, Karl and Susan saw green at The General Store when Harold told them about Connor’s St. Patrick’s day promotion, after he presented them with toxic looking cups of coffee.

Notes: Friday's episode was rare in that the whole episode revolved around the storyline of Charlie’s birth. A full, illustrated summary of it can be viewed here.
