It was a week filled with star-crossed lovers, and crossed villains…

After Lyn questioned Rachel’s crush on Stingray, Susan told her that she trusted him with her life and knew nothing would happen, but she soon regretted her words after discovering that he and Rachel nearly kissed. Susan told Rachel to forget about Stingray and look for someone her own age, but as she warned Stingray about Rachel’s crush on him, he told her he felt the same. Disappointed that Stingray had made her a liar, Susan told him to put an end to it and reluctantly he obeyed. In a bid to play Katya and Susan off against each other, Rachel asked Katya’s opinion and was disappointed when her sister agreed with Susan that Stingray was too old for her. Steph was angry with Lyn about the baby belt contract and refused to believe that she hadn’t read the contract before pushing her to sign it. Defending herself, Lyn told Steph that if Paul refused to change it, she would quit her job, and when she confronted Paul, he pointed out that Steph treated Lyn like a doormat, and a scapegoat, reluctantly though, Paul raised Steph’s share to 7%.

After Kim took Stingray to pick up Dylan’s car from Grease Monkey’s, Stingray was forced to admit that he’d been caught drink driving after he acted strangely when a police car drove by. As Kim scolded him over his law breaking, Stingray questioned Kim about his high income from Dyl-Dogs, in front of Janelle. Janelle & Kim set a date for their wedding, but Kim was left working overtime on the pirate DVD business when Bree & Rachel worked out that Janelle’s dream wedding would cost over $30,000. After Stingray’s comments and Kim assuring her that he would raise the cash, Janelle began to wonder if the money was really coming from Dyl-Dogs.

Bree told Rachel that she had decided not to find her biological parents to protect Janelle and because she didn’t want to be responsible for hurting other people the way the news had hurt her and her family.

Katya’s past came back to haunt her this week when she was introduced to Paul’s business associate, Sean Dempster, a face from her past. She was forced to admit what had happened to “Cameron” but he told her that her past didn’t matter, it was who she was now that counted and promised that he wouldn’t let Sean hurt her again. It seemed that he meant it, as Robert visited Sean late at night, apparently ‘killing time’. Paul soon became worried when Sean didn’t turn up for dinner. Worried about Sean, Paul, Izzy and “Cameron” went to his office, where Robert noticed a spot of blood he forgot to clean up, but managed to do so without Paul or Izzy noticing. Unfortunately, Sean hadn’t signed the consultancy and baby belt contracts that Paul & Lyn had got him to agree to before ‘disappearing’ and after being convinced by Izzy and “Cameron”, Paul called the police. On hearing the news, Katya questioned Cameron’s involvement in his disappearance, but he soon convinced her of his innocence, but he struggled to see how Katya could feel compassion for someone she hated so much.

After returning from visiting Svetlanka and discovering how Lou got The General Store back, Harold refused to return to work there, saying that he was enjoying his life for the first time since the plane crash. Lou soon found another business partner in Mishka, but by the end of the week he was begging Harold to return as nicotine deprived Mishka left the customers less than impressed and to Lou’s delight Harold agreed and after a little white lie from Lou, Mishka gave up her job.

Harold was disappointed when he found out that Sky had been unfaithful to Dylan with J.P. and they had split up, but told her to stop feeling sorry for herself and get on with life. As Elle tried to be friends to both Sky and Dylan, the latter, who had recently returned from Colac, mistook Elle’s support for something more and tried to kiss her, but she pushed him away, saying that when he grew up and wanted to talk about his feelings about Sky, she would be there for him, as a friend. Meanwhile, Sky continued to question everything she thought true about herself and managed to alienate almost everyone close to her, only opening up to Boyd. As Sky compared her grief over breaking up with Dylan to Harold’s attempted murder of Paul, he told her that he had lost most of his family in a plane crash including his son and that it didn’t compare to her losing Dylan due to her weakness. He told his foolish granddaughter that he loved her and when she decided to grow up, he’d be there for her, leaving Sky immediately regretting her actions.

As Karl taunted Izzy about giving away his last reminder of her, she relished in informing him that the watch was actually Paul’s which he accidentally left behind after he slept with Izzy at Karl’s apartment and was worth $20,000. After asking Boyd for the watch back, and revealing the true value, Max jokingly told Karl that it wouldn’t be right for Boyd to return it as it had been a gift. Boyd, who had returned from the country ready to get back together with Janae, took his father’s words seriously and sold it in order to buy her an engagement ring and Janae was shocked to open the door of number 26 to find Boyd on one knee, asking her to marry him. Boyd was disappointed when Janae failed to give him the immediate response he had hoped for as she asked for time to think about his proposal. Shocked by Boyd’s gesture, Janae sought advice from Susan about being a doctor’s wife, pointed out that Boyd was much more ambitious that Karl. She told her that the life of a GP is much different to that of a specialist doctor at a city hospital as, more study is involved and the hours are longer, which left Janae wondering if she would play second fiddle to Boyd’s career. Shocked by his eldest son’s actions, Max pointed out that Boyd’s had behaved like this in the past with his weight lifting and Kayla and worried that Janae was just another obsession, but Boyd refused to listen, saying it was his decision and his mistake to make, not that it was one. All were shocked however when Boyd revealed that Janae had asked for time to think about her answer. The next day, Janae bumped into Max & Steph on her way into number 32 to see Boyd and told them that she had made her decision and was sure they would be happy with her choice.

As Karl felt pushed aside by Jenny in favour of her career, particularly when she fell asleep during his performance at Scarlet Bar, Connor pushed Ned to oust Karl from KenNEDy and asked Susan to do their dirty work. Meanwhile though, Jenny & Karl realised they were at different points in their lives, she was on her way to achieve her dream and he was beginning to slow down, leaving him questioning their relationship.

Also this week, as Paul complimented her on her business acumen, Lyn struggled to hide her attraction to him, Dylan discovered Kim’s DVD scam and demanded to be involved and finally, Connor received a phone call from Lucia Cammeniti asking him to look for Carmella as she had been missing since Christmas. After finding out about her last movements with help from Stuart, Connor went off in search of her.

Notes: Earlier this year, it was announced that, in the ten-week build-up to episode 5000, the writers would be slipping the episode block number (a block being a set of 5 episodes) into the scripts each week. This week, the number 993 was mentioned in Wednesday’s episode, when Ned told Connor that he was behind on his ticket quota due to him getting back into singing, and that Aggro Annie had issued ‘993’ tickets last month, whereas he’d barely made 50.
