Aborted murder attempts, false building inspections, children swapped at birth and there’s still time for a cuppa in Erinsborough…

Sky was left feeling disappointed with herself after cheating on Dylan with J.P., especially when he told her it would never have happened if he knew she was still going out with Dylan. After finding out from Mishka that Sky hadn’t returned home after going to the art exhibition, Dylan realised what had happened and after Sky later confirmed it, they split up. Sky struggled to see Dylan moving on so quickly, seemingly enjoying his new job as the chef at Scarlet Bar, and true to form, Izzy revelled in Sky’s pain at her break up with Dylan, comparing Sky to herself, much to Sky’s chagrin. By the end of the week though, Dylan had gone away to Colac.

Paul took a blasé attitude when a building inspector called to assess The General Store, but soon regretted it when he received a phone call telling him that the inspection had found several problems with the building and it would have to be closed down. Paul soon saw a way out of his problem though, selling the lease back to Lou at a discounted rate. Lou agreed on the condition that Paul turned Lucinda’s back into a top-class restaurant and as Paul left Scarlet Bar celebrating his triumph over Lou; it was Lou and Mishka who had the last laugh, due to their phoney building inspection.

Robert’s evil schemes continued when whist doing some work on Number 22, he ‘accidentally’ dropped a hammer as Izzy walked under his ladder, it missed however, but Izzy was left shaken by the incident. He continued by telling Elle that Izzy had been flirting with him, despite it seeming as though it were the other way round. As Robert prepared to enjoy a strange meal of four asparagus tips, he was interrupted by Katya and it soon seemed that “Cameron” and Katya were going to take their relationship to the next level, but realising he was becoming distracted by her, he pushed her away. Later, on a visit to see the real Cameron in hospital, Robert admitted to his comatose brother his feelings about Katya and decided he had to get rid of her. As he was talking though, Robert failed to notice Cameron’s eyes moving, it seemed his plan to harm those close to Paul wasn’t all Katya was distracting him from. After deciding to get rid of her, “Cameron” took Katya to a secluded spot for a picnic but just as he prepared to do away with her, he found himself unable to do it. Later, however, as Katya admired the view from a cliff top, Robert saw an opportunity to get rid of her, but as he walked up to her, she turned and slipped off the edge, grabbing onto part of a nearby tree as she does so. As Katya screamed for “Cameron” to help her, Robert pondered on whether or not to save her, but soon his feelings for her got the better of him and he pulled her up.

When Oscar’s crèche was closed due to an outbreak of headlice and she was forced to take him to work with her, Lyn was mistaken for a candidate for a nanny job whilst working as a courier for Paul, and overheard something about a clause in the Lassiter’s contract, which would’ve lost Paul a lot of money. Armed with this information, Lyn took the chance to win Paul’s respect and asked him how much the information was worth.

After laughing at Janae when she told them that Bree wasn’t really Kim & Janelle’s daughter, Bree & Stingray were left reeling when Janelle inadvertently told them it was true by her reaction to their news. As Bree tried to hide her emotion and went off to read in her bedroom, she told Janae that she had always wished she had been adopted or somehow ended up with the wrong family, but she didn’t think it would come true. Feeling guilty for the way she revealed the truth to her sister, she told Bree that nothing had changed, they were still the same people and would still argue, and that she still loved her and the two hugged. In a touching moment, Janelle entered and found the two asleep, with Bree in Janae’s arms, she stroked Janae’s hair and kissed Bree, showing how much she loves them and that they are both her daughters, despite what the DNA results say. The next day, Bree tried to continue as normal, but told her shocked family that she wanted to find her real parents. By the end of the week though, Bree had changed her mind, after Janae pointed out that they probably didn’t know about the mix up.

After Zeke failed to be picked to play for the Eastside Dingoes, Rachel suggested that Susan should find him a male role model, whom he could go to for help with such things. Realising that Rachel was right, Susan enlisted an initially hesitant Karl, but after Jenny convinced him that she had no problems with his friendship with Susan anymore, Zeke was thrilled when the former Dingoes team doctor turned up at number 28 holding a ball signed by Adelaide Crows star, Paul McClain. Zeke was even more impressed when Karl & Susan told him that they knew Paul as he used to live in Ramsay Street with Harold & his late wife, Madge. However, despite his vast knowledge on the subject, Karl revealed to Susan, Rachel & Jenny that the enthusiastic teen was never going to be a footballer. By the end of the week, Zeke & Karl found themselves with black eyes after getting involved in a fight at a football match, after Max told Zeke that violence was part of the game.

Stingray got caught drink driving and lost his licence, and after telling Rachel that he was worried about telling his parents that he would have to go to court, especially with everything that was going on with Bree, and the pair nearly kissed, until they were interrupted by Janae. KenNEDy made a return performance at Scarlet Bar, but it whilst it initially seemed that Ned was what people were interested in, Connor & Ned soon discovered that Karl was the more popular member of the trio, leaving them wondering what he had that they didn’t.

Finally this week, Mishka struggled to adjust to Australia’s anti-smoking ways, but promised to give up after Lou told her that he loved her and didn’t want to lose her. Steph’s joy at being given the all clear by her oncologist was short lived after Max told her off for not reading the baby belt contract properly before signing, especially after finding out that she would only get 5% of the net profits, and that there were several dubious clauses, leaving her pondering Lyn’s involvement in the matter.

Notes: Earlier this year, it was announced that, in the ten-week build-up to episode 5000, the writers would be slipping the episode block number (a block being a set of 5 episodes) into the scripts each week. This week, the number 992 was mentioned in Wednesday’s episode, when Paul told Elle & Izzy that the council were going to close down The General Store under “section 992 of the local planning act” after Lou & Mishka got the building inspector to tell him that the building had major structural damage.
