Having finally convinced Steiger to take her out on a date, after spending all of her time speeding and reporting fictitious prowlers to get his attention, Janelle was disappointed when the evening was taken up at various bars where her date was hoping to catch criminal activity happening. He admitted that his obsession with work had brought about the end of his marriage too, and he worried that a date spent pig-shooting wouldn’t quite cut the mustard. But Janelle made the surprising admission that she used to go pig-shooting a lot when she was younger, and almost made it onto the cover of Playboar magazine, so a second date, camping in Walker State Forest, was arranged. When Zeke got to hear about it, he suddenly remembered hearing the name when he was younger, as it was somewhere that Alex used to take Katya, to stay in a cabin. He realised that it was the last chance to find her before the police realised that she was missing, and roped Bree into his scheme, as the pair hid in the back of Steiger’s ute and hitched a ride to the forest.

The plan looked set to fail when Zeke and Bree were mistaken for wild pigs hiding behind a tree, and Bree was forced to reveal herself and admit everything before Steiger shot her. Zeke, meanwhile, ran off and found the cabin, with Katya inside. His efforts to talk her into returning home were futile, but it was too late, as Bree had already told her mum everything and Steiger stopped Katya as she tried to leave. After calling for back-up, she was taken back into remand. Janelle and Steiger were left alone again, though she was disappointed in him for shopping Katya so easily and decided to hitch a ride home, only to get lost and return to the tent, where, in the middle of the night, passions erupted. Back in Erinsborough, Katya was determined not to put her family in any more danger and, when Rosie told her that she could avoid jail by giving evidence against Guy and the other criminals, she refused.

Will continued to deceive Carmella, and, after lunch with her mother, she again brought up the subject of meeting his family. Forced to think on his feet, he claimed that they were due to leave in a couple of days for a trip around Australian in a campervan and would be too busy to meet, so it would have to wait until their return in several months. As he saw how upset Carmella was, and fearful of losing her for good, Will said that he would try to arrange lunch for the following day. He then roped in old family friend, Selma Atkins, to pretend to be his mum for the afternoon, and the plan worked perfectly as Carmella was finally placated with stories of her boyfriend and his childhood. However, when she called in at number 30 and overheard Will paying Selma off, she realised that they were back to square one, and even when he explained that he was just paying his mum back for the house bond, she refused to stop and listen. Paul, meanwhile, bumped into Selma in the street and found out her name as he asked her to move her car. He then took the opportunity to stir things when he saw Carmella and acted like he’d known Will’s mum for years, when they’d only just met, only adding to Will’s concerns that his secret was about to be revealed.

After spotting Max with a woman and two young children in the supermarket car park, Elle had her driver follow him home and made sure that she wasn’t imagining things. Seeing her way of patching up the Hoyland family and repairing some of the damage she’d done, Elle headed to number 32, to find only Janae was at home. A confused Janae, after hearing Elle’s story, suddenly came to the conclusion that Max could have been leading a double life, with another family in Waratah Park, and decided that she had to see it for herself before telling Steph or Boyd. As they loitered outside the house, Janae was left in no doubt that it was Max, or that he was happily settled with a new family – but she was left with the awful dilemma of whether to confront Max, or tell Boyd what she had seen.
Also this week, Ned was sacked from his job at Lassiter’s, also losing his personal training business into the bargain, when Paul blackmailed Will into voting with him at the board meeting, Rosie (with a little help from Pepper) decided that she would have to date both Paul and Frazer, before weighing up the pros and cons and working out which of the two men she wanted to be with, while Sky was desperate to impress at a work function and managed to rope Stingray into pretending to be her partner.
