Losing tempers, homes and babies kept the Neighbours occupied during another week on Ramsay Street…

Having finally tied the knot after many ups and downs, the Hoyland family enjoyed a peaceful honeymoon at an upmarket leisure resort. However, in true Neighbours style, a handful of embarrassment was thrown in for good measure with a series of cringeworthy scenes involving Max and Boyd asserting their masculinity in front of a group of male and female models who were being photographed at the hotel. Their stay over, they returned to Erinsborough in high spirits – all except Summer, who had managed to get the phone number of a young lad named Caleb at the resort, whom she fancied. However, in trying to raise the spirits of his daughter, Max had inadvertently destroyed the piece of paper with Caleb’s details on it by throwing Summer into the swimming pool. Little Miss Hoyland was not impressed!

Darren and Libby’s relationship continued to be rocky as Karl displayed characteristics he had many a year ago when they first dated, by assuming the worst in Darren at all times. Things came to a head when Karl suggested to Libby that Darren could well be responsible for the thefts at the Ozzie-Bilt construction site. Libby was furious, and it seemed Karl had undone all the good feeling felt between them the previous week during his birthday celebrations. However, Karl’s words may have had an effect on Libby as she expressed a doubt to both Susan and Darren of the latter’s honesty. This was further exaggerated when Darren gave Libby a necklace as a gift – giving even more ammunition for people to believe the worst in him with. It's great to see suspicion in Darren return, especially from Karl who was never his biggest fan. Again, Darren is a changed man, but it's great continuity that he is still being suspected, even by people who didn't know him first time round.

Darren’s honesty, however, may never get a chance to shine through, as the corrupt copper, Olivia MacPherson, continued to bribe and cheat. Having now been revealed to Jack as a police officer, the desperate Scully lad had some tactics to play around with – for example, threatening to reveal her other secret life to Stuart, risking her career in the force. However, Mac appeared to be one step ahead of the game through convincing Jack to get the second, planned robbery at the site wrongly pin-pointed towards Darren being the culprit. She later made plans to have her sly way by phoning a criminal contact who would set the plan in motion. Jack, meanwhile, was further thrown into turmoil when he was expelled from Eden University – thus, theoretically, putting an end to his hopes of furthering a career in the family trade. Again, Neighbours recent return to dragging stories out properly over several weeks, instead of wrapping them up quickly or forgetting about them, is paying dividends, with Jack falling further into despair each passing episode.

The elders of the street, meanwhile, were in the midst of their own dramas, as Izzy continued her underhand tricks to get what she wanted. Realising that Karl wouldn’t be able to afford to give her the life of luxury she desired for several years, owing to him being overly generous in the dividing of his and Susan’s assets, she plotted to make Karl feel guilty enough to confront Susan and demand they re-assess their assets again and that Karl get a more equal settlement. Izzy, assuming Karl would get his own way, stirred the proverbial by winding Susan up through telling her that she and Karl would be moving into No.28 once their baby was born, on the assumption that Susan would have no need for such a large house once Sindi, Scott and Libby moved out. Susan was livid, and vowed that Izzy would only move into her house over her “dead body”! Tom was angry that Karl and Izzy had seemingly conspired against Susan, so he tried to reason with Karl behind Susan’s back – which annoyed her initially. Karl was dismissive of Tom, claiming to know her needs and wants better than him. Susan was also unaware that in prison, Darcy had requested Lou enquire as to whether his aunt would visit him in the hope she would sponsor his day release from jail.

And finally, a near tragic tale fortunately had a happy outcome mid-week, when an over enthusiastic Stingray was determined to look after baby Madeleine for Connor. Despite Connor warning Stingray to stay away and leave him to look after his daughter, a brief visit to the kitchen was long enough for Scott to take Maddy out of the house and to the skate park for an afternoon’s entertainment. A full-scale search was mounted when an absent minded Stingray lost Maddy and her pushchair at the park. It later transpired that kindly passers by had spotted the unattended stroller and rescued the baby, unbeknown to the kids at the park. Connor was furious with Scott, and nearly turned violent at one point, but was restrained by Susan, Tom and Toadie. Scott, upset with himself for having turned a good deed into a near disaster, decided he was better off going back onto medication to control his ADHD, but he pleased Susan and Sindi by also eating a good portion of vegetables, in their quest to help treat him without drugs.
