Endings – both happy and unhappy, along with caffeine highs, fake breasts and the son of a millionaire, made for a complicated week for the Ramsay Street residents…

The complex situation involving Jack, Mac, Darren and Libby seemed to be unravelling this week, and the first unfortunate victim was Darren and Libby’s relationship. After becoming involved with Mac’s scheme to make money by staging fake site robberies, Jack was finding it very difficult to cope with the guilt. Jack took his frustrations out on the site workers, and ended up sacking them all, before being forced to pay them off and take them back on. Meanwhile, Mac made it clear to Jack that Darren was the perfect person to take the rap for the robberies. Darren was arrested, which only gave Karl more fuel to voice his concerns about Libby becoming involved with the Stark boy again. Although Libby was quick to defend Darren in front of her father, it became obvious that she wasn’t 100% sure of his innocence when she turned up at the site. This was the final straw for Darren, whose alibi had checked out. He realised that, however hard he tried to move on from his past, it would always catch up with him sooner or later. With Darren having been let off, Mac and Jack were worried that they would get found out, especially when a witness came forward and stated that he’d seen three people on the site on the night of the robbery. Luckily, the only one they identified was the guy who was taking the stolen goods. Meanwhile, with his relationship in tatters, Darren told Lou that he was going to leave town. After learning that he would be selling the business to teacher Karen Buckley, Libby ran to the school to stop him. Before doing so, she made a symbolic gesture by giving her car away to Sky Mangel. This seemed to indicate that Libby was ready to move on from Drew and be with Darren, but it was too late. He told her that he couldn’t stay. He had already shown Lou the ring that he had planned to propose with, and, after one final phonecall to Libby, he left the ring in the phone box. The end of a fantastic storyline, which used the history of the show extremely well, weaving it into other characters’ storylines. It’s obvious that Libby and Darren are meant to be together, even after all this time, so the abrupt ending to their story was heartbreaking.

Another relationship that hit the rocks this week was that of Stingray and Serena. Following his shocking meltdown last week, and his decision to start taking medication for his ADHD, Stingray was a changed person. Although many of the locals, including David, were quite happy to see him become a more sensible individual, Serena was deeply concerned. Although she, as well as Boyd and Sky, tried to get him interested in terrorising the neighbourhood once again, it seemed that he just wanted a quiet life. Even switching back the lids on the coffee pots, leaving Susan and David both behaving slightly strangely on a caffeine high, didn’t seem to motivate Stingray. By the end of the week, he was even washing David’s car by way of apology for stealing it, and Serena was left wondering if she would ever see the old Stingray again.

Lou and Darcy’s time together in prison came to an end this week, when Lou’s appeal hit the courtroom. But before that, the two of them managed to have a frank talk, during which Darcy admitted that he felt awful for everything he’d done, and that he’d never be able to forgive Dee. Whilst the appeal was going on, Susan visited Darcy at his request, where he told her how sorry he was and how all the time in prison had given him time to think. He went on to explain that he needed someone who was a victim of one of his crimes to recommend him for day release. Susan was surprised by this, and wasn’t sure what to do for the best. When Karl got to hear about it, he went to the prison and warned Darcy to stay away from his family. There was better news for Lou, however, whose prison sentence was overturned in favour of community service. Lou’s spell in prison has been an excellent way to bring Darcy back into the show, but hopefully he hasn’t changed completely, and the next few weeks will bring about a return of evil Dr Darcy.

Speaking of evil, Izzy was once again trying to cover for her baby lies this week, as the date for her ultrasound came around. Of course, because the baby is a month older than she’s claiming, she had already been to the hospital for her scan, and so, she had to lie to Karl once more. When she heard that Steph’s friend Kim was shunning any scans incase they harmed the baby, Izzy started to adopt this excuse for herself. However, Karl wasn’t at all happy, even accusing Izzy of not caring about his feelings and only wanting him around for the money. Realising that she would have to pretend to go the scan on her own, Izzy managed to get hold of Karl’s diary and pretend to get an appointment for the following afternoon, when he was fully booked up. This still didn’t stop him, however, as he said that he would try and rearrange his schedule. Izzy was then forced to phone him and say that her appointment had been brought forward and she’d already been for the scan. She then had to pretend that the VCR had eaten the tape of the scan, and cut the date off of her original scan and frame it. It seems that whatever gets thrown in Izzy’s way, she’s always one step ahead.

Also this week, the dress debacle continued, as Sindi went for an interview at a major newspaper. Due to Liljana’s alterations, Sindi found the dress was a little too spacious around the top, and employed a couple of fake breasts to pad her out a bit. Unfortunately, it all ended in disaster when they popped out midway through the interview, and she was forced to flee, leaving one of them behind. Meanwhile, Summer had troubles of her own as she desperately tried to track down Caleb. Having worked out all the possible combinations that could have been his number, she started borrowing the phones of anyone she could, before Harold caught her out. However, when she remembered some new information about Caleb’s dad, Steph realised that she’d spoken to him at the bar, and came up with the surname, Wilson. Before long, Boyd had googled Caleb, and it was revealed that Summer’s new crush was infact the son of a millionaire, who lived on an island off the north coast of Queensland…
