Magic Moments > 2014 > Susan Buried Alive: Part Two Episode 7021

Written by Phil Lloyd, Directed by Scott Major, Produced by Jason Herbison

Channel Eleven: 24/11/14, Channel 5: 05/01/15

The Willises calling time on their marriage... Ezra and Terese heading to her hotel room... Terese backing off from kissing Ezra and showing him the door - but he doesn't leave... Susan telling Karl about Nate's problems with sleeping... Susan falling into a pit that Nate has been digging... Sonya realises that her stalker is in the house...

Inside number 30, Sonya frantically calls the police while trying to get access to the bedroom, shouting and pleading that she’ll do whatever it takes to gain entry. Nell starts to get upset and Sonya tries again to push open the door. However, the reason why Sonya cannot gain entry into the bedroom is an unconscious Mark, slumped against the door.

..

..

Nate continues filling the hole with soil, unaware that Susan is in it! He only stops when his attention is drawn to Susan’s ringing phone and then he quickly starts to shift the soil away from her.

At The Waterhole, Sheila enters whilst Naomi is declaring her innocence to Toadie. “It’s the truth, mum sent it to me, tell him! This letter, this letter about Sonya you sent to me whilst I was away!” Sheila clears up the mystery over why Naomi has the stalker letter – she sent it to her so she was aware of what was going on. Sheila wonders what's going on and Toadie fills her in on Naomi not being in Hawaii the whole time, but being back in Melbourne for the last 5 weeks. Naomi explains that she arranged with the hotel to forward on any mail received, and she starts to explain to Sheila but Toadie’s phone starts to ring - it's Sonya to alert him that there’s a problem. Toadie immediately bolts from the bar.

..

Back inside number 30, Sonya is getting extremely frustrated not being able to get into the room but eventually her pushing manages to dislodge Mark enough so that she can gain entry and get to Nell. Sonya notices that the intruder must have left through the window, and she asks Mark if he is ok. Mark is slowly coming round, but tells Sonya that he doesn't know what happened.

Brad enters the Waterhole looking for Terese and Paul takes great delight in telling him that she’s up in her room with Ezra, then tries to put him off going there in case he’s a “third wheel.” Brad’s not amused with Paul and pulls him to one side but all Paul does is remind Brad that he was the one that called it quits on their marriage and that he can't blame his wife for moving on. Paul then urges Brad to move on too, claiming that both he and Terese would be a lot better off.

..

Terese is in the bathroom of her hotel room, extremely upset. She begins to cry and slumps to the floor.

At number 28, Karl assists Susan as she goes to sit down - he asks how she's feeling and Susan replies with “Fine, just a bit bruised and wobbly, I’m just happy I am not stuck at the hospital”. Karl doesn't look too amused at Nate and tells Susan that he’s surprised that she didn’t break anything, he's also puzzled about why she didn’t call out prior to tripping. “I was scared,” is Susan’s reply because she couldn’t work out what Nate was doing digging in the dark or how he’d respond if she startled him. “I wouldn’t have hurt you intentionally,” a teary Nate replies before Karl puts a stop to allow Susan to go clean herself up and rest. Karl comments that they will discuss the matter in the morning. Nate heads off to his room and Susan looks utterly relieved.

..

Matt and his colleague re-enter number 30 and report to Toadie, Sonya and Mark that there is nobody outside or in the house. They want Mark and Sonya to get checked out at the hospital, but both make it clear they don’t want any treatment. Matt confirms that a trace has been requested for the phone number too, and Mark is frustrated that he couldn’t stop this; Sonya reassures Mark that he didn’t stand a chance. Mark tells Sonya that he was attacked and knocked out as soon as he entered the room and next thing he remembers was waking up and seeing Sonya and Nell on the bed. After hearing this, Matt isn't taking no for an answer and takes Mark off to the hospital, promising Sonya and Toadie that an extra patrol car will check on number 30, and for them to contact him if anything else happens. Clearly shaken up, Toadie comforts Sonya whilst the police let themselves out.

Back at the Waterhole, Naomi explains to Sheila why she returned to Melbourne early – having too much time to think led to her wondering about Toadie so she returned to try and get her life back on track again but every time she went for a job, her reputation courtesy of Charles and Polly had gotten there first and, after 4 weeks of trying, she decided to return to Ramsay Street. Sheila tells Naomi not to let what Toadie said this evening get to her, although out of line, he was just protecting his family. Sheila asks Naomi if she still has feelings for Toadie, although Naomi confirms she has, she insists that she is not running away this time, she can cope with it and declares that she’s strong enough. “Of course you are” is Sheila’s reply.

..

At Terese’s hotel room, there is a knock at the door and Terese hesitantly goes to see who it is – it's Brad, who asks if Ezra is in the room. Terese asks how Brad knows about Ezra being here and Brad explains that he ran into Paul, who filled him in. He asks if he can come in and Terese hesitantly allows him inside. Brad quickly spots that the bedsheets are messed up and there are two wine glasses on the table and thinks that she’s slept with Ezra out of revenge, to even the score. “You really think I’d be that childish?” she asks and his response is that he’s just trying to figure out what is going on. “Did something happen?” he asks and an upset Terese can't seem to get the words out but eventually she manages to say “yes... yes, something happened.” A hurt Brad replies with “Well I guess there’s nothing to talk about!” and he walks out of the room, slamming the door. Terese sits back on the bed and starts crying.

The following day, Chris has brought round some magazines to help Susan’s recovery, as Nate enquires how she's feeling. Susan tells then that she's feeling better, but then she asks Nate to explain what he was doing digging in the dark. Nate explains that in the army, as punishment they’d send you to dig holes and he always slept better after that, so he thought trying that trick again would work. “I messed up pretty badly,” he responds after they’d guessed he was having difficulties again and adds that the counselling isn't working, because he can’t connect with his new counsellor. This proves Susan's point that he should have said something. Chris is rather confused by the chat about counsellors, and says that Nate should have told him about all of this. Karl suggests that they need to talk properly.

..

Terese is playing with her breakfast at the Waterhole when Paul enters and thinks she’s doing that because she’s had “a long night.” Terese isn't amused at Paul telling Brad about Ezra and his attitude totally changes when she tells him that Ezra “couldn’t take no for an answer.” Terese explains to a concerned Paul that after dinner they went up to her room because he wanted to discuss some more ideas for the festival. Terese continues “Look I knew what was going on, OK? I knew that there was a possibility that something might happen but once we got up there, I couldn’t go through with it. I didn’t want to cheat on Brad and I don’t want to move on”. Paul asks Terese how Ezra took this. She explains that he wasn’t happy at all and when she asked him to leave, he resisted so she had to force him out. A concerned Paul asks “Is that all that happened?... I mean nothing else?” “That’s bad enough isn’t it!” Terese says in an upset tone. Paul apologises to her, he thought he was just being her friend. “Well I don’t need friends like you,” Terese announces and proceeds to walk out of the bar.

In the back garden of number 22, Josh spots his dad quietly sitting alone, and comments that he was out late last night. Brad confirms that he was and breaks it to Josh that things could be over between him and Terese. Josh asks his father if it really is that bad and Brad confirms that it is, and he blames himself. Josh tells his dad to stop beating himself up and go tell Terese how he feels. Brad tells Josh that he’s tried and he thinks it’s not going to work, as he’s pushed it too far. Josh encourages his dad to try again and asks him if he still loves her - Brad confirms that he does. Josh tells Brad that if they still love each other then it doesn’t matter what has happened they can get through it. Brad agrees and leaves to find Terese.

..

At number 28, Susan declares she’s had enough of the cups of tea after Nate brings her another one. Nate insists that they were Karl’s instructions! Nate can't do enough apologising or cleaning up as way of an apology, but Susan tells him that there is something he can do for her – tomorrow they are going to go therapy shopping, they will keep on looking until they can find someone that he can connect with. Nate agrees to this, and Susan heads off to her room to rest, as Nate walks over to the sink to help Chris with the dishes. Chris apologises to him for not knowing what he was going through because he was so caught up in his own recovery that he wasn't there for him. Nate reassures Chris by saying to him “You know me, not good at sharing my feelings,” Nate explains that he didn’t know how to unload his problems until he started talking to Susan. Nate continues “By that time you were in hospital, going through your rehab. You were in your own hell and I was revisiting mine, telling Susan, took her there too”. Chris isn't sure what he means by that and Nate explains that it gave Susan nightmares resulting in her having to go for therapy. Nate tells Chris that there was no way he was going to put him through that, not when he had enough of his own troubles. Chris explains that he wants to help Nate and Nate’s reply is that he does, by being there for him and when Chris comments that it doesn't seem enough, Nate is quick to reassure him that it’s more than he’s ever had even though he doesn't feel like he deserves it. Chris says to Nate “Of course you do, I love you”. They kiss. “And I love you too” is Nate’s reply.

Brad comes to Terese’s hotel room and she answers, Brad tells Terese to hear him out... Brad begins to say to Terese “Whatever happened with you and Ezra, I don’t care. I mean I do care, I just... Truth is, I don’t want to give up on us, alright? I want to fix whatever's not right and I want to keep fixing it for the rest of our lives. OK, whatever's happened, whatever we've said or done, all that matters is that I love you because I do. And that much is out of my hands so if you still haven’t shut the door on us I’d like to try again”. Terese declares that she wants that too. Brad then goes to hug her but when he does, she is in visible pain and he quickly pulls away and asks what's wrong... Terese doesn’t answer; Brad then asks again what happened. Terese can’t say and begins to cry, so Brad hugs her gently to console her.

Inside number 30, Toadie and Sonya have had a restless night’s sleep as they sit in bed with Nell. “We shouldn’t have stayed here last night,” Toadie says and proposes that, after he talks to Matt, they book into a hotel until the situation is resolved. Sonya seems to be in agreement with that suggestion but is concerned about being alone during the day and Toadie’s idea is she could go stay with his parents or visit Callum. Sonya replies “The person got to us here, Jarrod, I'm sure once they notice that we're gone they'll find a way to track us down”. At that moment they hear a noise – it sounds like someone is in the house. Quietly Toadie gets out of bed to investigate. Toadie creeps quietly into the living room; Sonya is behind him where a woman is looking at the photos on the pin board above the desk. Toadie picks up a bat to defend himself, and says “Who are you?” The mystery woman turns around and says to Toadie, “Who am I?”. Sonya looks at the woman and she seems to recognise her, calling her Erin.
