Magic Moments > 2019 > Dee and Andrea Reunited Episode 8141

Written by Jason Herbison, Directed by Chris Adshead, Produced by Natalie Mandel and Natalie Lynch

Channel Eleven: 08/07/19, Channel 5: 08/07/19

Shane talks to Andrea about 'Karen'... Andrea wants to help Toadie sort out his issues with Dee... Ian comments on how much Andrea looks like 'Karen'... Heather divulges to Andrea that she is in Byron Bay... Riley phones Heather with an update and asks to meet, but Andrea decides to go instead... Having been expecting to meet Heather, 'Karen' comes face to face with Andrea, shocked to find that she looks exactly like her...

After the shock of seeing each other at the cliffs at Byron Bay, 'Karen' mentions their uncanny likeness and asks Andrea if they are related, but Andrea replies that they are not. Andrea seems to be coping better with the situation than 'Karen', who, having been expecting to meet Heather, is still startled at meeting her doppelganger. As she tries to process the strange situation Andrea attempts to assure 'Karen' by telling her that she admires her attempts at trying to forge a new life for herself, insisting that she should keep using the name 'Karen' as that is who she is now. She asks 'Karen' if she would be able to continue living this new life with her help and protection, taking 'Karen's' silent response as acceptance of this, before telling her that she will leave her to her new life and never bother her again.

..

As Andrea begins to walk away a confused 'Karen' calls her back, asking her how she knows Toadie. Angry that 'Karen' has brought this up, Andrea turns around and puts a happy smile on her face to force a reply, asking 'Karen' if she is really willing to re-open that chapter again. She attempts to shut down the line of conversation by bluntly informing 'Karen' that she doesn't know Toadie anymore, but seeing her looking unconvinced, is forced to admit that he is good and healthy. 'Karen' asks her how she and Toadie first met and Andrea tells her that it was in a cafˇ in Melbourne; Toadie did a massive double take when he first saw her due to her uncanny resemblance to first wife Dee, and she admits that she didn't correct him in his assumption that he thought his missing wife had returned. Upset that Andrea misled Toadie, 'Karen' is teary-eyed and pained as she tries to force a response, but Andrea cruelly tells her that Toadie is over her and he has moved on, having made peace with the past.

..

..

Despite the pain she has inflicted on her with her cutting words, Andrea continues to dig deeper by informing her that her relationship with Toadie became intimate. She admits that they fell madly, deeply and passionately in love, and had a child together called Hugo. Struggling to process the things Andrea is telling her, 'Karen' asks her if Toadie managed to come to terms with the resemblance, and Andrea responds that he realised they were two very different people even though he knew she wasn't his beloved Dee. She suggests that everyone has got their 'happy ending' and everything is as it is meant to be, indicating that 'Karen' should remain in Byron Bay for the sake of keeping the peace. 'Karen' is confused by one thing however, asking Andrea why Heather contacted her in the first place, and then alarms Andrea by picking up her phone to call her. Worried about what Heather could disclose, Andrea quickly stops 'Karen' from making a call and the two of them start fighting over the phone, unaware that as they grapple with each other they are slowly edging towards the edge of the cliff. Loose rocks start falling down the side of the cliff as they continue fighting with each other, before a terrible scream echoes out as one of them loses their footing.

It is later in the day and, at no 30, Willow is becoming worried about her mother going missing, but Toadie assures her that she will turn up soon so that they can have their chat. As he continues to console her, they are interrupted by a knock at the door. It is Ian. He looks flustered as he is let in by Shane and apologises for interrupting their evening, however he tells them that he has some information which couldn't wait and needed to be delivered personally. He reveals that a couple of days ago he found a contact number for 'Karen' and decided to call her; he asked her if her real name was Dee, and she confirmed that it was. He goes on to tell them that he confessed to Dee that Toadie has been looking for her, and after another phone call from Dee today reveals that she is at Cape Town airport on her way back to Erinsborough.

..

Shocked at this revelation, Toadie cannot believe that Dee is on her way home, but Dipi thinks that it's a good thing as she obviously wants to see him. They ask Ian for further information such as flight details, but Ian has nothing more to divulge other than that she will make her own way to Ramsay Street. He turns to leave, but before he does so Shane goes over and asks Ian if he is being straight with them, warning him that if this is another game he'd better watch himself, as it's not fair on Toadie. Ian leaves and is followed by Willow, who is looking for an update on her mum's whereabouts. Meanwhile a stunned Toadie struggles to comprehend the idea that he is finally about to meet his missing presumed dead ex-wife.

Andrea has returned to her room at Lassiters and has some flashbacks to what happened earlier with 'Karen' on the cliff. She recalls that it was 'Karen' who fell over the cliff after they were grappling with the phone, but the flashbacks end as Willow arrives. Although she is annoyed that her mother didn't respond to her calls, Willow doesn't have a chance to continue as Andrea divulges some astonishing news, that she is still in love with Toadie. Andrea admits that she knows her feelings for Toadie aren't right as he doesn't feel the same way, but she finds it so hard pretending and confesses that she needs Willow's advice. Unwilling to heed her mother's request, Willow instead tells Andrea that she is struggling to make sense of everything she is telling her, as Andrea unashamedly informs her that she can't help how she feels. Suspicious that something else has happened to prompt this confession from Andrea, Willow asks Andrea for a full explanation of what's going on.

..

At no 28, Toadie is updating Susan with the news about Dee's whereabouts; he admits that he is feeling worried about being duped again so is trying hard not to get his hopes up. He admits that he is relieved but also angry at the news she is alive, as he spent so much time grieving for her, and is also feeling guilty at the memory of Sonya being overshadowed by the prospect of seeing Dee again, who was always hanging over their heads. Susan reminds Toadie that it was Sonya who told Shane about Andrea's claim, and therefore she feels as if Sonya would have wanted him to have closure over the disappearance of his first wife. Feeling slightly calmer thanks to Susan's words, Toadie is still worried and asks Susan how he should prepare for a situation such as this. She assures him that it is impossible to prepare for moments like this and suggests that he give himself a break and deal with things as they come. He starts panicking again about the thought of Andrea, but Susan bluntly replies that Andrea can wait for now. However, a text from Willow regarding Andrea bursts Toadie's bubble.

Having rushed over to the hotel after receiving Willow's text message, Toadie enters Andrea's room and informs her that Dee is on her way from South Africa. He repeats the story that Ian told him earlier and Andrea tries to digest this news, eventually telling him that she is happy for him whatever happens. Toadie reminds her that he will need to tell Dee about her once she arrives, and Andrea acknowledges this before telling both him and Willow that she can't wait to meet her. She sends them both home and then breathes a sigh of relief once they're gone, the reminders of her encounter on the cliffs at Byron Bay still on her mind. As she tries to settle down and relax, she is annoyed to see that Heather is trying to phone her and cancels the call.

..

Back in Byron Bay an agitated Heather leaves a voicemail for Andrea, angry that she is not talking to her and that she has left her to clean up her mess for a job she didn't complete properly. She asks Andrea to call her so that they can figure out what to do next, as it is revealed that an unconscious 'Karen' is lying on her bed.

At no 28, Susan is looking through Harold's Ramsay Street History Book, specifically at photos of Toadie and Dee's wedding day, whilst at no 30 an overwhelmed and emotional Toadie is looking at a photograph of Sonya and himself on their wedding day. In Byron Bay, Heather is tending to an unconscious 'Karen', whilst at the hotel Andrea pulls out the headscarf 'Karen' was wearing from a carrier bag.

..

The next day at the motel in Byron Bay, Heather is relieved to find that 'Karen' has woken up but is seemingly stunned at the similarities between her and Andrea. She continues to comfort her as a confused 'Karen' tries to piece together what has happened to her; she slowly realises that it was Andrea who pushed her off the cliff the previous day. Heather continues to comfort her but 'Karen' notices that there is a chair wedged underneath the door handle and looks even more worried.

Over at no 30, Mark informs Toadie, Dipi, Shane and Willow that Dee's flight from Cape Town is due in at 9am and asks him if he wants him to check if she is on board. He confirms that the missing person case on Dee is closed after she was declared dead but could be re-opened if it is confirmed that she is indeed on the plane. Toadie admits that he doesn't want the missing person case re-opened if there is no actual confirmation that she is alive. As Mark leaves to take care of things Andrea arrives, stunning everyone by declaring that she will be leaving for a few days as she isn't quite sure if Dee is ready to meet her after everything that has happened. She assures them that she isn't disappearing for good and reveals that she is using the tools that her psychiatrist gave her when faced with a difficult situation. Distracted by Dee's possible imminent arrival and his feelings surrounding that, a nonplussed Toadie tells Andrea that she should do what she needs to do.

..

Having dropped this bombshell, Andrea retreats back to the hotel with Willow, who tries to talk her mum out of leaving Erinsborough. Despite this Andrea insists that she needs to leave as it's too hard for her to see Toadie potentially reuniting and getting back together with Dee. Willow assures her that this won't happen as Toadie still loves his departed wife Sonya, but Andrea is adamant that Toadie's long history with Dee means that he will always put her first. She tells Willow that she needs to put her health first and that no matter what happens, she will never leave her and her brother Hugo, assuring her that they will soon be together, and everything will be okay.

..

..

Back at the motel in Byron Bay 'Karen' is clearly in pain but tries to hide this from Heather, but it becomes obvious when she tries to reach for a glass of water. She thanks Heather for coming to her rescue as it transpires that the trees broke her fall when she slipped off the cliff face, and then asks her about Andrea and whether she is a friend of hers. Heather admits that Andrea is her daughter and confesses the difficulties they are having in their relationship, surprising 'Karen' by announcing that Andrea and Toadie are not actually a couple as he is still recovering from the death of Sonya. Having digested this news, 'Karen' asks Heather if Andrea would have gone back to Erinsborough, and Andrea agrees that she would have done to keep Toadie in her sights. Heather laments that her daughter's behaviour is affecting the whole family, although she admits that she has made her own mistakes as well. As Heather becomes emotional at the situation she is facing, 'Karen' tries to comfort her by telling her that she is a good person and is sorry that Andrea is treating her this way. This last comment leaves Heather suddenly troubled as she becomes lost in thought.

..

At no 30, Toadie is dozing as he hears a knock at the door. He goes to answer it and is both astonished and delighted to come face to face with who he thinks is Dee Bliss, although it appears that Andrea has come up with a whole new idea to try and win back Toadie's heart...
