Written by Rene Zandveld, Directed by Iain Pirret, Produced by Andrew Thompson

10: 23/01/25, Amazon: 23/01/25

Max is electrocuted and Holly realises that it was deliberate and that Yaz had intended for her to be the victim... Holly tells Max that she's too dangerous for him to be around... Vera decides that she needs to move out of number 32... Vera is offended when Sadie suggests that she could move into Eirini Rising... Rhett flirts with Aaron during the Boylesque rehearsals... Rhett and Aaron kiss... Andrew tells Byron and Sadie that Dex and JJ will be home tomorrow... Andrew thinks he spots the curtains moving inside the Varga-Murphy house... Seb is irritated as he watches Leo and Krista kiss... Leo asks Nicolette to fire Seb...

At Harolds, Nicolette wants to know why Leo needs her to fire Seb. Leo simply says that there's a lot that Nicolette doesn't know about Seb, leaving her wondering why she was asked to hire him in the first place. She then confirms that he's been doing a terrible job and that she'd been cutting him some slack on account of his injuries. Leo suggests that she uses his trial period as an excuse to sack him next time he messes up, insisting that Krista won't want to be accused of having a conflict of interests, but she might need some convincing. Nic realises that Leo is seriously worried about Seb, so agrees to help, checking that Leo will still keep her secret - that she went to the airport and allowed Yaz to escape the country - in return. Leo says that he's aware that Nic was developing strong feelings for Yaz and that hopefully that will make her understand why he needs to do this for Krista. He confirms that they have a deal, and Nicolette nods.

..

At Krista's apartment, she and Seb have fallen asleep on the couch. As he wakes up, he looks over at her and starts to stroke her hair.

At no. 30, Sadie is helping Andrew to put some groceries in the fridge, joking about how he seems to be moving in. He says that he's just going to stay to keep an eye on JJ and Dex, until Cara and Remi get back from New York. Sadie thinks that they can look after themselves, believing that Andrew is actually just lonely on his own at the Rodwell house and he admits that it will be nice to have some company. He stops as he thinks he can hear a noise in the sun room, and Sadie says that it must have been the same person who moved the curtains earlier, joking that the house is haunted.

..

The next morning, at no. 24, Jane is looking at the calendar, preparing for the new school year, whilst Isla is excited about starting school and seeing Abigail every day. Jane then notices that the anniversary of David's death is coming up soon, with Nic and Byron surprised that it's almost been a year already. Aaron then appears, telling Isla to go and brush her teeth, before noticing the calendar and realising why everyone looks so sad. He admits that it's made him wonder if he made the right decision by agreeing to a date with Rhett, and they all agree that they need to do something to mark the occasion. Rhett then knocks and walks in, interrupting the sombre mood and wondering if everything is OK. Aaron says that he just really needs a coffee, so they leave.

At Harolds, Seb is watching cat videos on his phone, failing to spot a customer waiting. Nicolette notices this and puts him to work, as she starts to clear some tables. Nearby, Sadie and Holly are talking about the situation with Yaz and they ask Nic if she's heard anything. She says that she hasn't and promptly walks away, as Holly tells Sadie that there's a lot of red tape with the police in America. Holly decides that she's going to reclaim her life, just as Gino comes in and asks Holly how she's feeling. Sadie is confused by the whole thing, so Holly explains that Gino was there when the photos of Yaz and Heath started appearing during the Lights Up event. Sadie then has a brainwave and asks Gino about Eirini Rising - he says that it's a great place to live and they're always having fun. He then goes to the counter where there's nobody serving, as Seb has now disappeared outside.

..

Leo watches across the complex, as Seb sits outside Harolds looking at his phone. He sees Nic walk out of the cafe and nods at her, so she walks over to Seb and tells him that she'll have to let him go. Seb's surprised, but Nic says that he doesn't take the job seriously, spending most of his time slacking off and watching cat videos. He reminds her that he's been having health issues, but Nic again says that she's going to terminate his trial period. She tells him to go and get his stuff and she'll pay him until the end of the day. Once Seb has gone inside, Leo comes over and thanks Nic, who admits that it wasn't hard to find a reason to fire him. Leo then tells her that now she needs to tell Krista what's happened, before Seb does.

Meanwhile, outside the Waterhole, Aaron and Rhett are having a drink together, and Rhett is wondering out loud if he's ruthless enough to be a real estate agent. Noticing that Aaron isn't really interested, Rhett asks if he's making the worst brunch date conversation ever, but Aaron insists that he isn't, explaining that it's coming up to a year since David died. Rhett says that he's happy to give Aaron some space if he needs it, but Aaron says that it's good that they can just talk about it. Aaron apologises for spoiling things, but Rhett is fine about it and they agree to have a redo date when he's in a better head space. Rhett says that he has an open house to get to, kisses Aaron and tells him that he can talk to him about anything. Aaron smiles and thanks him but, after Rhett has gone, he looks conflicted.

..

At no. 32, Sadie thinks her plan is genius, but Byron doesn't understand how it's going to help convince Vera to move into Eirini Rising. Vera then appears, interrupting their conversation, wanting to know why Sadie wanted to see her so urgently. Sadie asks Vera how she'd feel about getting her hair done, free of charge, by Gino Esposito. Vera is stunned, saying that Gino is a legend in the world of hairdressing and that he made her feel amazing on the one occasion she could afford to go and see him. Sadie then says that he's offered to give her a free blow wave, and Vera says that she'd be honoured, before rushing off to find something to wear.

Outside the Waterhole, Krista is surprised to learn, from Nicolette, that Seb has been fired, whilst Leo sits awkwardly, pretending he didn't know. Krista reminds Nic of Seb's health issues, but Nic says that he just treated the job like a joke. Krista isn't surprised to hear this, but offers to have a word with Seb. Nic, however, says that it all sounds like a conflict of interests, and that it was one thing to make her hire him, but it's another to make her keep him on when he isn't up to the job. She hopes that Krista will respect her decision and she leaves, as Krista admits to Leo that she isn't surprised that Seb was so bad at it. She says that clearly Seb's best isn't as good as everyone else's, but she just wishes that she didn't have to stomach Nicolette's 'I told you so' about the conflict of interests. Holly then comes over, launching into a spiel about what a great employee she was when she worked at Lassiters and, even when she did something wrong, she learnt from her mistakes. Krista asks if this is Holly's way of asking for her job back, before apologising and explaining that she's already filled the position.

..

At no. 32, Sadie and Byron are looking on, as Gino regales Vera with stories of his life as a hairdresser, including the time he walked in on Susan Renouf on the toilet. He admits that he misses being constantly run off his feet, which was why he moved into Eirini Rising, as there's always something there to keep him busy. He finishes off her hair, telling her that she'll soon get a man looking like that. She's delighted, but asks him what he's doing living in an old folks' home - he tells her that most of the residents are actually their age, and it's a hotbed of gossip, with love triangles and rectangles and more drama than an 80s soap opera. Byron and Sadie are very pleased as Vera seems interested and asks for more details.

At no. 24, Aaron is telling Jane how Rhett seems so perfect, but all he could think about during their date was David. He admits that Rhett was very nice about it, and Jane thinks that it might just be the anniversary, stirring up emotions. She tells Aaron that he deserves to find happiness again but he tells her that he just doesn't feel ready. Jane reminds him that perfect people don't come along often, adding that she doesn't believe that David would want Aaron to be sad.

..

At the Waterhole, Seb is ranting about Nicolette, but Krista reminds him that Nic was his boss. He says that he isn't that bothered, as it was just a cafe job, so Leo suggests that he should start thinking about what he really wants to do with his life. When he starts talking about Seb going back to uni, mentioning that he went to a great boarding school in Sydney so he could go back there and use that as leverage, Seb starts to realise what's really going on and that Leo is plotting to get rid of him.

At no. 30, Andrew is helping Jane, who is dropping off some boxes of school supplies for JJ and Dex. She thanks him and says that she wanted to make sure that the boys had everything they needed for the return to school, especially JJ as he begins his final year. Andrew offers Jane a cup of tea, telling her that he brought in some groceries earlier, but surprised when he takes the milk from the fridge and finds that it's half-empty. He's certain that it was full earlier, but wonders if he just brought the wrong one over from his house. Meanwhile, someone is watching them from the sun room.

..

Nicolette is sitting on a bench by Lassiters Lake, when Leo comes along and thanks her for what she did for him. She says that they both did what they had to do and admits that she's been thinking about Yaz, wondering why she got so invested in the relationship when there were no guarantees that Yaz would be staying in Australia. Leo says that she's allowed to have hope, adding that he won't tell anyone what happened. Nic says that doesn't make her feel much better and Leo admits that he doesn't feel great about going behind Krista's back again either. Nic jokes about the things people do for love and Leo says that he and Krista should be happy as they're getting married soon. Nic then wonders what David would think about all of this, a full year later, and Leo looks confused as Nic reminds him that it's the anniversary next week. She puts her hand on his shoulder as she realises that he'd forgotten.

At no. 32, Vera is showing Gino out the front door, still agog at all of his stories about Eirini Rising. He suggests that they should catch up for a coffee some time, and she quickly says that she's free the next day. Gino makes it a date and leaves, as Vera tells Sadie that this is a day she'll remember for the rest of her life. As Byron and Sadie start to talk up Eirini, Vera seems to be showing an interest until Byron says that he'd move in if he could. Vera suddenly realises that this is another attempt to get her to move out. Sadie says that it just seems like an obvious solution to all of her problems, but Vera tells her that the only problem she has is her housemates meddling in her life.

..

Back by the lake, Nicolette admits that she can't believe how quickly time has flown since David's death. She talks about how life keeps moving on and then suddenly it hits you. Leo is upset that he hadn't even been thinking about David's upcoming anniversary, though Nic points out that he's had a lot on his plate recently. She says that Leo doesn't talk about David much, and Leo tells her that there are constant reminders, but he pushes them aside as it's too hard to think about him. Nic points out that grief is complicated - and different for everybody - but agrees with Leo that David probably wouldn't approve of their recent behaviour. As they continue their chat, Seb watches them from a distance.

At no. 30, the man enters from the sunroom, looking through the cupboards until he finds the stash of junk food. He's about to help himself when Andrew opens the front door, so he quickly hides again. Andrew then walks in, followed by Holly, who wants to know if there are any updates on Yaz. He says that there aren't, but he'll let her know as soon as he hears anything. She admits that she's trying to stay positive but it's so hard, and she feels like she might regain some control over the situation if Yaz was caught. As they chat, the mystery man continues to hide.

..

At no. 24, Rhett arrives and Aaron thanks him for coming over. Rhett says that it sounded like there was something important to discuss and is crestfallen when Aaron immediately gets to the point and says that he doesn't think that they should continue to see each other. Rhett then asks if this is about David's anniversary, offering to give Aaron as much space as he needs, but Aaron says that he just can't do this - he admits that he's come to realise that he isn't ready to be with someone else and that Rhett doesn't deserve to be messed around. Aaron then apologises and Rhett says that he's sorry too.

..

Back at no. 30, Holly thanks Andrew for listening, telling him that he's easier to talk to that her dad. Andrew says that he's a slightly younger demographic than Karl, which probably helps, but Holly advises him to never suggest to Karl that he's old. She thanks him again and goes to the door, saying that she hopes she won't collapse into a heap as soon as she gets home. Andrew suspects that she isn't the type of person who can be kept down for too long and she agrees, before going. As he closes the door, Andrew hears a noise from the sun room, picks up a cricket bat and goes to investigate...
