The result of a one-night-stand between Steph Scully and Dan Fitzgerald, Adam's true parentage was kept a secret for many months, as Dan had been married to Steph's best friend Libby. The Fitzgerald marriage had ended due to their inability to have a child, and, not wanting to destroy the friendship, Steph had confided in good friend Toadie, who had agreed to pretend to be the father. The pair went as far as to get married to hide the truth, but it was eventually revealed and a devastated Steph left town with her son Charlie. She gave birth to baby Adam whilst away, but her guilt and confusion over everything that had happened led her to the decision to take her newborn to Sydney, where Dan was now living, and give him to his father to raise.

Trivia Notes
• Although Adam's first episode was 6005 [3rd September 2010], Steph said he was born "late last night", so his birth date could be 2nd September or she could have meant the early hours of the morning on 3rd September 2010
• In Adam's first appearance no credit was given to the actor
• In episode 6011, Adam was credited simply as Baby, and played by Isabella Münch, however the scenes featuring Brett Tucker were filmed nine months previously, so more than one baby actor must have been used
