Following an abseiling accident which left Josh Willis unable to swim professionally, only months before he was due to attend the Commonwealth Games, a feud broke out between the Willis family and the Turner family, with eldest Turner son Mason being blamed for what had happened. When Josh's mum Terese - the manager of Lassiter's - arrived for work one morning soon after the accident and was told by receptionist Wendy that Mason, the hotel's trainee concierge, hadn't turned up that morning and that she'd need the list of emergency contacts to try and find a replacement. It then emerged that Mason had gone missing after Josh's father, Brad, had threatened him with legal action, and that Mason had actually gone back to the accident site, hoping to find something that would prove his innocence.
