When popular Erinsborough resident Madge Bishop found herself suffering from crippling stomach pains at work, she was rushed to hospital, where specialist Roger Chan found a cancerous tumour in Madge’s pancreas. Roger allowed Madge’s G.P. Karl Kennedy to break the terrible news. As Roger continued to treat Madge, it seemed that treatment would make no difference and she was given six months to live. A few weeks later, with Madge planning a final trip to Paris with her husband, Harold, she fell over at home and cut herself. The infection that developed brought about an extremely rapid decline in her condition and Roger informed her that she had only days left. Madge returned home and passed away later that week, with Harold by her side.
