Susannah Christie 2007
Occupation: Journalist
Erinsborough News journalist Susannah Christie found herself caught between Steph Hoyland and boyfriend Toadie Rebecchi when they both decided to run for local election. Having interviewed Steph about her campaign, Susannah returned a few weeks later when Toadie, upset that his girlfriend was ignoring all of his campaign ideas, decided to run against her. Then, only days after announcing his plans, Toadie was behind the wheel of a minibus which was involved in an accident and found to be dangerously close to the bloody alcohol limit. After taking tests to check his exact blood alcohol level, Toadie continued with his campaign, but as many local journalists, including Susannah, gathered at Lassiter’s for a council debate between Toadie and Steph, he was arrested. He officially withdrew from the council race there and then and, as Susannah tried to get a statement from him as he left, she was met with silence.
A few months later, Erinsborough teacher Susan Kinski was in court for falling asleep at the wheel, then running down and badly injuring student Bridget Parker. As the Kinski and Parker families left court at the end of the first day of the trial, several journalists, including Susannah, questioned them, only to be met with 'no comment' from everyone.
