When Steph Hoyland was accused of smothering her terminally ill grandfather, Charlie Cassidy, she was prosecuted in court by James Clement. Clement questioned Steph’s mother, Lyn, about her daughter’s actions, making it look like Charlie had asked her to end his life prematurely. He then turned Steph’s answers around, as she tried to explain that she’d only moved the pillows to make him more comfortable. Although Steph was found guilty, Clement didn’t put forward any comments to the judge before sentencing.
