As Toadie Rebecchi’s concerns grew over the safety of his friend Steph Scully with new boyfriend, fireman Jay Duncan, he and Nicola West resorted to going through the archives at the Erinsborough News to try and find some more information about him. From the articles they managed to contact and arrange to meet with one of Jay’s victims, Madeleine Clay. Madeleine met Toadie and Nicola at Charlie’s bar and told them the horrible truth - Jay had been involved with numerous young, blonde single mums in the past, and in all of the relationships, Jay had become a hero by saving them from a fire.
