After returning to Australia from Cape Town, Tamara Daine immediately got in touch with Byron Stone, a former male escort who had accompanied her to South Africa a couple of years earlier. Disappointed to learn that Byron had given up the escorting work, Tamara got in touch with him and tried to persuade him to join her on a trip to Tahiti for Christmas, where her therapist had recommended she go following the death of her dog, Tobias. Unemployed and just out of a relationship with Reece Sinclair, Byron was very tempted, eventually agreeing to go, but his sister, Nicolette, was concerned that he was making the wrong choice. Nicolette got hold of Byron's phone and arranged to meet Tamara, who initially mistook her for another client wanting a recommendation. When Nicolette revealed who she actually was, she told Tamara about Byron's break-up, and how he was running away from his problems, as well as his friends and family, by going to Tahiti. Tamara then contacted Byron and told him that she'd decided against taking him with her.
