Pete Dawes was called to Erinsborough High when his son, Noah, was caught making homophobic comments to new student Dex Varga-Murphy, about his two mums. Pete insisted that his son wasn’t homophobic and wanted to clear up the matter, so was shocked when principal Jane Harris insisted that she wouldn’t stand for bigotry, and that Noah was getting a three-day suspension. Later that day, Jane received an email from Pete saying that he wasn’t happy with the punishment and not only was he threatening to move Noah to West Waratah High, but he’d persuaded six other parents to do the same with their children. With the school already being threatened with closure due to low enrolments, Jane realised that Pete’s actions might seal the school’s fate.
