When JJ and Dex Varga-Murphy started at Erinsborough High, they were approached by Noah Dawes, who was keen to find out more about them. Their conversation was interrupted by Remi, one of JJ and Dex’s two mothers, who had brought Dex his asthma inhaler that he’d left in Cara - their other mum’s - truck. As Noah realised that they had two mums, he grinned to himself and walked away, later taunting Dex in class about his home life, calling him a ‘double mummy’s boy’ and asking if he called one of them ‘daddy’. Noah was then caught out by principal Jane Harris and teacher Curtis Perkins, and his father, Pete, was called to the school. Jane explained that she wouldn’t stand for bigotry in her school, and, much to Pete’s shock, that Noah was being given a three-day suspension.

A few months later, Noah was one of several underage boys who were confronted by Krista Sinclair at the Lassiters New Year's Eve party at the Waterhole. When Krista asked if they had any adults with them, Noah insisted that they were adults, so she asked to see their IDs. At that point, Noah declared that the party was lame, and he and his friends left. When Krista's drink was spiked later that evening, Noah was one of the people who was suspected of doing it, though he denied any involvement when questioned by the police.
