Dr Palmerston Mark Silveira
Dr Palmerston 1993
Occupation: Doctor at Erinsborough Hospital
Following a gas explosion that tore apart the Waterhole pub, several Ramsay Street residents were left injured. At the hospital, Phoebe Gottlieb was
informed by Dr Palmerston that her husband, Stephen, had swelling on the brain and could potentially be paralysed. When Stephen woke up, he had no feeling
in one side of his body and failed to recognise Phoebe. Dr Palmerston explained to her that the swelling on his brain was the cause of the paralysis in one
arm and leg and that it could be months before his condition improved and his memories started to come back. After a few days, Stephen's health deteriorated
and he was taken in for brain surgery to remove a blood clot, which improved his memory but still left him very weak. Dr Palmerston then informed Phoebe that
it would be quite a while before Stephen was back to full health and that he would need long-term nursing care. Though Dr Palmerston suggested that a rehab
centre would be the best option, Phoebe insisted that she wanted to look after him at home.
A couple of months later, Dr Palmerston also looked after Michael Martin when he was shot by a petrol station attendant, when Michael was only trying to
stop Darren Stark from robbing it. With the bullet lodged in Michael's lung, Dr Palmerston informed his family that they'd be operating to remove it and,
after a tense wait, the surgery was a success and Michael was taken to recovery.
