Aaron Fleming contacted handyman Kyle Canning about having a Balinese hut built in his back garden, and when Kyle's ex-girlfriend Georgia called by the builder's yard, she immediately spotted Aaron checking out Kyle, though Kyle was completely oblivious to his customer flirting with him. As Aaron continued to pester Kyle with text messages, he realised that Georgia had been right, so she offered to walk him back to work, where Aaron was waiting. Before leaving, Georgia made sure that Aaron saw her holding Kyle's hand and then kissing him goodbye, making it clear that he wasn't available. Kyle then continued with the job, but when he had to go to Thailand unexpectedly, to help out his cousin Dane, his mate Honga took over the job. When Honga was then unable to complete, former builder Doug Willis agreed to help out.

A couple of years later, Aaron found himself embroiled in a far more serious matter, when Tom Quill was accused of causing a massive boiler explosion at Lassiter's hotel. Tom had been missing, presumed dead, since the incident, and when he finally made an appearance, he was taken in for questioning by the police, and he explained that Aaron was his alibi. Aaron was then brought in, confirming that he'd been with Tom both before and after the explosion, and had seen him go into the car park, going after him a few minutes later, meaning that he'd never been out of someone's sight, and couldn't have tampered with the boiler. As he was married and didn't want his wife to learn that he'd been with Tom at a motel, the police agreed to be discreet, but warned Aaron that he might still have to give evidence.
