After agreeing to help out by running the Buddy Club, the first day ended badly for Kyle Canning when young Nell Rebecchi went missing. Although she was quickly found, having wandered off to look at the mural of her late mum Sonya, the incident knocked Kyle's confidence and, after almost quitting, he agreed to have another try. Kyle then took a group of kids to the builders' yard, where he planned to teach them how to make a box. One of the kids, Seth Fleming, refused to listen to any of the instructions and ended up with a couple of pieces of wood glued to his hands. With Seth worried after Kyle said that they'd be stuck there for the rest of his life, he used some acetone to get them off and later, as the group got burgers across the street at Grease Monkeys, Seth and Kyle bonded over having absent fathers, with Kyle assuring Seth that he wasn't to blame for his dad not being around.
