With plans to turn her motel, Robinson's, into a wellness centre, Steph Scully found things going badly wrong when cannabis was discovered at the wellness centre's press launch and a newspaper article called it a drugs den. With donors pulling out, Steph was struggling to pay for the renovations and her business partner, Amy Williams, suggested that she speak to the contractor, Simon Gordon, and try to arrange a delayed payment. Simon told them that he couldn't work on the basis of a promise and would have to pull his people off the job. However, by the end of the day, Amy told Simon that she'd managed to scrape together the money to pay him for another week and, hopefully, by that point she hoped to be able to pay him the full amount, if a planned deal worked out. When she presented Steph with $50,000 a week later, it looked like Amy might have returned to her old job in cleaning whilst wearing skimpy lingerie to pay the bills, but she explained that there was a donor who wanted to remain anonymous - and who later turned out to be Steph's mum, Lyn.
