Following the death of Matt Turner, his grieving son Bailey started drinking and going off the rails. After finding Matt's old police badge one day, Bailey and his friend Jayden went around the local area claiming to be police officers. Though some fell for their scam, motorist Stacey Harding quickly saw through them when they claimed that she'd been speeding in the car park, pointing out that they were far too young to be in the police, so Bailey quickly 'let her off' with an informal warning. The following year, Stacey was the duty nurse at the hospital as a nervous Sonya Rebecchi waited for her husband Toadie as he underwent an operation to remove a bullet fragment from his spine. When Sonya noticed a sign welcoming Belinda Bell to the nursing staff, then saw that Belinda was assisting in Toadie's operation, Sonya panicked, knowing that Belinda had been making threats against Toadie - worried that her ex, Steph, was in love with him. With Stacey attempting to stop her, Sonya then ran down the corridor and burst into the operating theatre at a crucial moment, ultimately causing long-term damage to her husband's health.
