When Joel Samuels took part in a deep sea dive to the wreck of the Philippa Clare, hoping that it would impress Vernon Wells enough to give him a job, he was partnered with Blake Heath. Vernon was alarmed when Blake came to the surface without Joel, and admitted that he’d lost contact with his partner, but, a few moments later, Joel appeared, complete with a rare teaset that had been the reason for the dive in the first place. Although annoyed by Joel’s recklessness, Vernon was still impressed enough to offer him a job.
