Guest Character Profiles > Jack Sidney Jackson

Jack 1985
Occupation: Barman at Smugglers

The likeable barman at Smugglers, the bar and restaurant in the basement of The Yard Arm pub, Jack's regulars included Max Ramsay and Jim Robinson. One day, Max was waiting to meet an old schoolfriend, Amy Medway, who was returning for a school reunion, and had told him on the phone that she'd be wearing a red silk dress. As Max was chatting to Jack about current affairs, a larger woman in a red dress came in, and Max wrongly assumed that this was Amy and quickly left the bar. Later that evening, Amy arrived for the date and told Jack who she was looking for - Jack explained that Max had been in earlier that night, but had left very suddenly. Amy then used the bar's phone to contact Max, who lied that he was going to be overseas for the next few weeks.

A few days later, Max and Jim were having a drink together, and Jack asked Max why he'd left so suddenly the other day, as a beautiful woman named Amy had turned up looking for him. Realising the mix-up, Max was keen to get back in touch with Amy, but was embarrassed about his behaviour so asked Jim to call her instead. Jack was amused when Jim then turned up at the restaurant the next day on a date with Amy, and the pair made Smugglers their regular haunt that week, as they attended the school reunion together and visited places they remembered from their childhood. At the end of the week, just as Jim was about to take Amy to the airport so that she could return home to London, Max walked in, and Jack took great delight in telling him that the stunning woman on Jim's arm was Amy Medway, who Max had just narrowly missed out on spending time with.
